1. For someone working in your field, please describe the fantasies versus realities of the job.
(fantasy vs. reality)
The reality of the job is that there is never enough time to take care of everyone and everything, which
would be my fantasy.
2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?
(educational level and requirements)
I have acquired a technical education. I have taken a certification text to become a certified medical
assistant. I must take 60 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) every 60 months to remain certified.
3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.
(day-to-day activities)
I work up patients. I call in RX. I request for medical records and assist with office procedures. I aid in
post-surgery.
4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?
(job security) The job is secure and the job of the medical assistants are growing by leaps and bounds.
We are becoming more educated and trained as we collaborate and talk to MDs.
5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?
(salary) The typical salary is 12-16 dollars.
6. What potential for growth is there in your field?
(growth potential) There is a potential for becoming office managers and become educators to patients
about diseases and health care.

7. Why did you pursue a career in medicine?
I wanted to take care of people and assure they were provided with quality healthcare.
8. What is your contribution to colon cancer treatment?
I assure that all medical records are accurate and obtained referrals are in place and tests are ordered.
This helps the physicians keep track of patients information regarding colon cancer treatment.
9. What is the future of colon cancer treatment?
I believe patient education will be the key to higher initiatives, early detection and then early care.
10. How can patients take responsibility to reduce risk of colon cancer?
Patients should talk to family members about their health history. They should screen early for screening
or atleast on time. They need to consult a doctor if there are health problems and go through surveillance
for any health conditions.
