Additional Notes
Interview "What I'd do differently" focus on pop culture ppl like Ice Cube/Brad Paisley and
executives for car companies/org, like Craig Jackson (runs Barrett-Jackson) and Audi Design
Chief. Q&A format ends asking if there's anything they'd do differently
CD: lot of TV people, comedians; just did Chuck Palumbo from Discovery's Rusted
Development, host of travel channel's Ghost Adventures. Questions: quick stats, daily driver,
other cars, fav road trip, car learned to drive in, first car bought: gives quick answer at the to
then elaborates in the body
Take 5 w/ execs in the business, racers; less celebs and more car people. Q&A format with a
short description of relevant info at the top. "Looked forward to off-the-cuff interview without
person"
Reality TV article was at the end of Sept: http://www.roadandtrack.com/carculture/entertainment/a26834/reality-tv-has-no-idea-what-goes-on/ Car Culture section is sti
very car heavy. Q&As seem more formal than Hot Rod or Car and Driver **
Also very car focused, car specific pitches instead of programs/or talent focus. Best cars from
Overhaulin's first season, list focused because they have the Top 10 lists (not always 10).
"Broadcasting vacuum when it comes to cars. They seem fundamentally misunderstood. Car
are not Knight Rider, nor Pimp My Ride, nor Overhaulin'. **
"People" section, but not really interviews. Newsworthy/timely info about them like if someon
dies, moves positions, how much $ celebs spend on car. Used to cover Hagerty Classic Car TV
YouTube show, don't think they cover it anymore- featured Wayne Carini from Chasing Classic
Cars a few times, so maybe focus on him pitching (covered 100th ep in 2014) **
Blog: showed listing for a car built at 2005 SEMA, mentioned ppl not being able to pay
insurance after Overhaulin' or not liking the modifications; also talked about AmeriCarna Live
car show a few years ago with Ray.
April article that showed spoof Car Bros made referring to car TV: "It's BS TV, showing people
rigging together BS transactions and passing it off as BS reality."
LaChance wrote about Hemmings shop event where they live-streamed their weekend of
building a car for charity, mentioned Wheeler Dealers and the dramatic aspect of it, but not a
harsh as others
Cars & Gear section is under "Lifestyle." Less car reviews/jargon more feature style- celebs,
crashes, car awards, stunt driving
Some non-health related articles, but best bet would be to pitch health related articles
vehicles section- posts quite often. mostly reviews with some car news (like recalls, finanical
status of companies) some lists, but not really space for entertainment. Less programs
entertainment section covers current stars, athletes, trailers, history of (hot tub, pinups, etc)
older celebs- could pitch car centered or celeb/entertainment centered
For car mags, probably best to keep the focus on the people and their stories
rather than the shows. They tend to mock reality car TV, saying it's fake. But
our talent is really interesting and have cool stories to share.
