lesson students will be able to retell stories.

2. Introduce the book Jack and the Wolf.
3. Read the book Jack and the Wolf to the class.

4. Ask the class what they predict is going to happen next since
Jack lied.
5. After reading aloud to the class ask them different events that
happened throughout the text.
6. Write these examples down on the board.
7. Have the students move back to their desk.
8. Tell the students that they are going to retell the story of Jack
and the Wolf as if they were there.
9. Have the students write their retelling of the story down on
paper.
10.Have the students turn in their papers to the to be graded
bin.
11.Congratulate the students on doing a great job.

This connects to students cultural backgrounds, because many famous stories
are retold according to different cultures. Books like Cinderella and Beauty and
the Beast vary from different cultures. Retelling a story gives students a
chance to show how their culture might tell the story.

I will go around the classroom and help the different table groups brainstorm
ways to retell Jack and the Wolf. I will make sure to spend the same amount of
time with each table group and help with spelling and sounding out words.
