Main Aims:
The focus of the lesson will be to make the learners familiar with and practice
present perfect continuous and its difference from present perfect simple. They
will be explained the rules on examples and came up with the grammatical
structure. The next aim is to make them use the newly gained knowledge in
practice. The learners will also practice how to express different periods of
time.
Subsidiary Aims:
The activities in the first part of the lesson will help to introduce myself to the
learners and to introduce them to me, because we will be talking about how
long we have been doing certain things. Other aims are to encourage the
students to practice speaking and to make them interact with each other and
with the teacher. Social skills will be developed by teamwork within the group
activities.
Personal Aims:
My first aim for this lesson is to introduce myself to the group, getting to know
them and learn how to work with them to get the most out of it for both me
and them. I also never taught English to learners older than 12 so I usually
taught much simpler grammar, so that is my personal challenge the
environment in the class will be absolutely new for me so I will be learning
while teaching.
Topic / Activities:
The main topic is present perfect continuous followed by time expressions. In the
first activity the learners will be divided into two teams a since one and a for
one. I will tell them a few sentences about myself using present perfect
continuous and each team has to make notes about the time expressions
following since or for. Than we will check if they caught all of them and I will write
them on the white board. The following activity is a brainstorming ending up with
a mind map with different examples when to use present perfect continuous

(according to the rules). After getting familiar with the rules I will tell them I would
like to know something about them and ask them to think of something they have
been doing for a long time. BUT It doesnt have to be true. My task than is to
guess if they are telling the truth. Next activity is about describing pictures in
pairs or groups and the last one is a game so they can get some movement. I call
this game talo and the two teams are competing in fast perception. I will be
talking about Star Wars: Episode VII and the learners have to listen carefully. If
they hear their word, they must run and get the scarf faster than their opponent
from the other team.
