Pontiac's Rebellion
1763
Peace treaty of 1763 gave the British all French land east of the mississippi river.
Including the territory of Frances allies who were not consulted about the transfer
of their lands to british control. In an effort to recover their freedom, Indians
captured British forts around the Great Lakes and in the Ohio River valley as well
as attacked settlements in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.

Sugar Act
Law passed on April 5, 1764 designed to
raise revenue from the American colonist in
the 13 colonies.
Townshend Act
Designed to raise revenue in the colonies to pay salaries of
governors and judges so they would remain loyal to Great
Britain as well as follow trade regulations.

Stamp Act is repealed & Declaratory Act is passed
First major retreat by British in the face of colonial American
resistance. Some British politicians supported it, but the ones who
didnt (William Pitt) responded with the declaratory act. A law
passed to affirm power to legislate for the colonies.
Boston Massacre
Killing of colonist by British regulars caused
by growing tensions in American colonies
since they first appeared in massachusetts to
enforce the Townshend Acts.

Battle of Trenton
December 26, 1776 a conflict between Great Britain
and the 13 Colonies in North America. American
colonist left with victory.

Lexington and Concord
On April 19,1775 the battles were fought. Hundreds of
British troops marched from Boston to Concord to seize
arms. Paul Revere told others, and colonial militiamen
went on their way to intercept the Redcoats.
Confrontation in Lexington set off the fighting and

Coercive Acts
Four acts made by British government. The was to
restore order in massachusetts due to the boston tea
party. These acts were Boston Port act,
Massachusetts Gov. act, Administration of Justice
act, and Quartering act.
Battle of Saratoga
September- October A conflict between
Great Britain and the American 13
colonies to allow France to enter the war
against britain. The Patriots took victory
in both Saratoga battles.
An alliance is formed
The french and Americans formed a
defense alliance that promised military
support in case of british attack in the
future.

Battles of Cowpens and Guilford Courthouse
Lord Cornwallis launched an invasion of North
Carolina only to destroy general Nathaniel
Greene's American Army. At Guilford
Courthouse on, March 15, 1781 the two armies
met. The British led victory in the battles.

Articles of Confederation are Ratified
March 1, 1781 the Articles were ratified
standing as the outline of the official
government of the United States.
