PART 3: LESSON FOCUS (15-20 mins):
Activity
Throwing for Velocity
Throwing is a complex skill that cannot
be learned by slowing it down. To learn
the proper throwing form, students
must throw as hard as possible.
1. Throw at mats on the wall.
2. Throw at hoops leaning against
the wall and try to knock them
down.
3. Throwing outside for distance.
4. Throw at cones.
PART 4: GAME ACTIVITY (5 mins):
Activity
Snowball
Two teams, one assigned to each half of
the gym. Each student has a yarn ball.
Players can be hit three times. Each
time they are hit they call out a number
(1, 2, 3) of times they have been hit.
After the third hit they must go to the
side of the area and count to 25 before
they can reenter. Teams must stay in
their half of the gym.

Teaching Hints

Throwing for velocity is exciting for

youngsters. It can also increase the
activity level of the lesson as
youngsters retrieve the thrown objects.

Teaching Hints

Use scatter formation.
