Fact families. Asked S to explain what FF was wrote down on board.


Used circle map. Video, then stopping to ask questions. S they
minused. CT they subtracted? CTHow do you know?
After video what else do we know now? Created fact family together,
then back to desks. Gave instructions to table captains, then had them
repeat the directions. Talked to whole group and worked one problem
together. Monitoring individual student work when Ss at tables and also in
whole group.
CT sets academic expectations. Constant monitoring of students, checking
their work, moving among tables.
Some issues with video Ss very tolerant/willing to wait
Fact familie S asked if that was correct S - I thought it was spelled with a
y. CT put the s on the end and then explained why the ies was
added. Good response/reaction to question that was not related to lesson.

These students are very respectful. Obvious high expectations set for this
classroom.

Student Reflection/Plan:
CT expressed that she should have made sure the video was working as expected.
Will know to practice with it beforehand.
**CT needs to be sure that all students are involved in whole group lesson. She did
some cold calling that she learned in district PD.

I think the lesson went really well for the most part. One thing that I could
have done differently is preview the video before the lesson and practice
stopping the video when I wanted to. Also have my questions already
premade on an index card of what I would ask throughout the lesson. I loved
my circle map that I did with them. They knew a lot more than I thought
that they would know about fact families. I think the children understood the
concept of fact families very well. They were able to give me what I was
asking for. They are a smart bunch of kids.

**Need to always be prepared with questions so you do not have to try to think of
them on the spot, especially when you are new at this.
**Never be satisfiedif students seem to be getting the lesson easily, you may
need to push them to go further.
