Freescale CodeWarrior IDE Support

to Change for Kinetis Devices

Please be advised of a change coming to the Freescale CodeWarrior IDE for
microcontrollers product that affects only users of Freescale Kinetis microcontrollers.
The current Kinetis portfolio of ARM Cortex-M4 and Cortex-M0+-based MCUs is and
will continue to be supported in the Eclipse-based CodeWarrior IDE for microcontrollers
product. However, new Kinetis devices introduced after the recent release of CodeWarrior
IDE for microcontrollers v10.6 (released on April 2) will not be supported.
What does this mean? There is no immediate action required. However, as you integrate
new Kinetis devices (those released from May 2014 onward) into your solutions, you will
need to migrate to one of the following integrated development environments:
1. One of the Freescale Kinetis MCU-featured IDEs www.freescale.com/KIDE

Atollic
Green Hills Software
IAR Systems
ARM Keil
Somnium DRT

2. Kinetis Design Studio IDE from Freescale www.freescale.com/KDS

3. Other Kinetis tools option
Freescale will continue to work with our established ARM ecosystem for Kinetis
development tools solutions with featured IDEs from Atollic, Green Hills Software, IAR
Systems and Keil. Freescale has also announced the Kinetis Design Studio IDE, a new
complimentary tool for Kinetis MCUs. Please visit the new Kinetis IDEs page for detailed
information on the commercial and complimentary tools available for future Kinetis
devices. Be sure to click on the respective partner links to access information on special
programs and tools being offered for customers interested in migrating from CodeWarrior
IDE for microcontrollers to one of the Kinetis MCU-featured IDEs.
Please note that CodeWarrior development tools are sold as complete development
suites with options for professional, standard and basic models. By purchasing a suite
entitlement, you are able to register and use any or all of the CodeWarrior tools contained
within the suite. Note that the change described here only affects the CodeWarrior IDE
for microcontrollers product and only the future Kinetis device support within that
product. There are no changes to the other CodeWarrior tools which will continue to have
active support for future Freescale devices (excluding Kinetis MCUs).
