AppSense Personalization flowchart

To answer questions from customers and colleagues about how to personalize applications using AppSense
Personalization I created the following flowchart.
The first step in the flowchart is to analyze the application you want to personalize. A great tool for this would
be the AppSense Configuration Assistant, but that is something for another post at some other time.
After analyzing the application, you need to decide if the user settings of this application (user persona) actually
need saving within Personalization. You should only personalize applications that users need personalized
settings for. So dont go putting all your applications in Personalization, as you will end up with a Personalization
configuration that is hard to manage and a Personalization database that is far too large.
After deciding if you need to personalize the application or not, just follow the steps show in the flowchart.
Remember, here also the saying less is more holds true: only include the registry keys and/or folders that the
application really needs, exclude everything else. A great tool for this would (again) be the AppSense
Configuration Assistant.
Standard exclusions that I put in every application configuration in my Personalization configurations are:
Registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software
Folder:

{CSIDL_PROFILE}

{CSIDL_COMMON_APPDATA}
