Date of Activity:
2. I appreciated the opportunity to interview the new hire with the nurse manager. Not only did I
get to learn what is expected of both a new and experienced nurse, I also saw the perspective of
the interviewer. I now feel prepared to participate in any interview.
3. Working with the homeless/hungry at Mount Calvary was humbling. I was able to practice my
service leadership while performing community service. I served the dinner attendants their
meals while also offering words of inspiration. The congregation was appreciative of my service.
I also enjoyed participating in the Network meeting because I was able to observe the planning
stages for the program that would connect faith communities and healthcare communities. I saw
as the two organizations coordinated a program that would provide non-medical support to
patients to prevent re-hospitalization after discharge. I feel programs like this could significantly
improve patient outcomes. I plan on taking the information I learned to my first hospital to help
decrease the rate of re-admission after discharge for my patients.
Would you recommend this specific communnity/professional experience in the future; why
or why not? (Describe)
1. I would recommend this experience to my classmates. Collaborating with the residents helps
develop our interprofessional relationships. I also think that learning the organization structure of
the medications and supplies in a code cart is vital to the effective execution of a code.
2. I would highly recommend participating in an interview for all recent and soon-to-be nursing
school graduates. I now understand what employers are looking for in a new nurse. This
knowledge could be the difference between my classmates getting a job or not.
3. I believe my fellow classmates could benefit from attending a Faith and Community Health
Network meeting because preventing re-admission is just as important as the care received
during hospitalization.
