Abstract
The cycloid or trochoid curve is defined as the trajectory of a fixed
point on a rolling circle without sliping. It was studied with extreme interest
by the mathematicians, especially the geometers, of the 17th century and
generated much acrimony, disagreement and rivalry so that it is known as
"the Helen of geometers". Today in the era of digital technology the
methods used to calculate surfaces, lengths and different properties of the
cycloid, can be presented in a dynamic way which offers a modern way of
learning and understanding. In the paper we use the GeoGebra software

which gives the possibility thru the animation and the dynamics of figures to
simplify the process and to understand the so-called method of indivisibles,
which starts from the Greek antiquity (Democritus, Euclid, Archimedes) and
goes to the Differential and Integral Calculus theory of the 18th century.
