ABSTRACT
Asep Maulana Awaludin, 2015. Correlation between Characteristics of
Flower and the Success of Crossing from Eight Crossing Combinations of
Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.). Guided by Neni Rostini and Anas.
Crosses is one method of plant breeding used in moving and combines the
properties of a genotype crop plants to other plant genotypes. factors that
influence a cross between the timeliness another of flowering, time of
emasculation, and time of pollination. Flowering on peanut plants are arranged in
the form of grain that appears in the axillary, and including perfect flowers are
male and female genitalia found in the flower. Correlation between the characters
including important thing in breeding programs, because to have a superior plant
material needed selecting two or three characters simultaneously. The aimed of
study was to determine the correlation between characteristics of flower and
success of crossings from six parental genotypes. This experiment was carried out
from May to October 2014 at environment the Departement of Agricultural
Cultivation, Agriculture Faculty of Padjadjaran University on 766 meters above
sea level (asl). The experiment arranged bassed on Randomized Complete Block
Designed with eight crossing combinations as treatment and five repetitions. The
results showed that flowers length, diameter of flower, number of flower, and day
of flowering were different based on Duncans multiple range test 5%. The
success of crossing was not different in eight crossing combinations. Positive
genotypic correlation was found on period of flower with success of crossing.
There were negative genotypic correlation betwen length of flower and day of
flower with success of crossing.
