High School

Age 14-15

Hello!
My name is Jesse
Hughes, I am 15
years old. I am in
the ninth grade.

Famous Developmental Psychologist

Jean Piaget says.

Jesse is a wonderful young

man and he fits into my
Formal Operational Stage.
He learns best by
debating, asking
questions, and thinking
about how it all works
together.

Erik Erikson says.

Jesse is in the Identity vs.

Role Confusion stage. He
is in conflict with himself.
Jesse wants to be
independent but he
realizes that he needs the
support of his parents,
teachers, and peers.

My Cognitive Ability

Erikson is right! I am
ready to be independent
and be an adult, but I
dont have any money, so I
have to depend on my
parents for now. I enjoy
school and I have a job to
help me get some money.
I am so glad my parents
support me.

My Physical Ability

Piaget is correct, also. I

am on the football team
and many times I ask
questions about different
plays and formations. I
know its a lot of work,
being in school, playing
football, and working, but
Im ready for the
challenge.

My Peers

These are my friends and we

have a lot in common. They are
like my family because we
spend so much time together. I
often spend more time with
them than my real family. We
started school together and
plan on finishing together. We
enjoy the movies, mall, and
just having fun. We are very
supportive of each other.

My Parents

I love my parents. They have

molded me into the young
man I am today. They are
very supportive even though
we dont always see eye to
eye. They have raised me in
church and introduced me to
my Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ. I love my parents and
am thankful for all they do.

My Learning Process

I learn best from my teachers and peers. I use different

manipulatives at home and school to do different tasks.
My parents got me a computer to help with my school
work. I like to help build things around the house. My dad
and I built a mailbox using different shapes and materials.
Every time I ask a question, my parents and teachers
relate the answer to real life situations. They are very
supportive and foster a supportive environment, too. I
love cars and my mom said if I save enough Ill be able to
get my own car.

Equilibrium and Disequilibrium

Many of my teachers begin class with a question that relates to something

that we have learned previously. This is equilibrium because it makes since in
my mind. They will then follow that question with a more difficult question.
This is disequilibrium. But its ok because it cause me to think more deeply
about it. As a class, we ask questions and the whole class is engaged. Then
our teacher explains the lesson and we understand the question better. At the
end of class the teacher gives us an activity to check our understanding of the
lesson that was taught in that class.
