WRITING ASSIGNMENT #2: ANOTHER MODERN FAIRY TALE

You are to choose a favorite fairy tale and, keeping the same characters and
setting, create a modern version of the story. You will be illustrating your fairy tale
AFTER you finalize your writing, so be thinking about what you will be drawing.
REMEMBER: I am looking especially at your strong opening, and organization
and sequence of events.

Based on feedback from colleagues during lesson sharing.
I tend to assume that students know how to do things on the computer when they
actually dont, and the suggestion to practice the skill by starting with something
very simple is a good idea. I also tend to give only a few times to practice before
moving on, when it would be better to take the extra time to get it down right.

Reflection:
Based on own reflections after the implementation of the
lesson
I was so happy to have implemented Google Classroom for this assignment.
It was so easy to monitor student writing as they worked on their
assignment, adding comments as they typed, making oral comments as well,
especially regarding capitalization, punctuation and organization. I was also
able to grade work without the hassle of carrying papers to and from home,
students are able to find out their grade when they return to the document,
and subsequent assignments to include peer review, revision and
finalization.
