classesareprerequisiteforamajorrelatedtomath,civilengineering,environmentalscience,or
oceanography.Specifically,someareasoflearningthatinterestEmilyareenvironmentalissues
suchasrenewableenergyormarinesciencesandconservationbiology.Outsideofschoolshe
playstromboneinthemarchingbandandplaysclubsoccer.
Oneexperientiallearningopportunitythatcouldinvolveresearch,leadership,andinternational
engagementwithafocusonmarinescienceistheUWROVTeam.TheROVTeamdesigns,
builds,andoperatesRemotelyOperatedVehicles.Currentlypartoftheteamfocusingongaining
fundingforacompetitioninCanadathatwould,assumingtheywin,allowthemtoexplorethe
arcticwiththeirROV.
