3 Big Ideas for a Collaborative Team

1. Focus on learning and commit to
learning for all students.
2. Build a collaborative culture in which
everyone accepts collective responsibility
for student learning.
3. Focus on results using evidence of
student learning to inform professional
practice and intervene for students who
experience difficulty.

Key Questions for Results Driven Planning

1.
2.
3.
4.

What is it we expect our students to learn?

How will we know when they have learned it?
How will we respond when they dont learn?
How will we respond when they already know it?

***Evidence and Artifacts must be attached based on

the request- examples include analysis/results,
common assessments, item analysis, meeting
agendas, etc

Collaborative Planning Team Meeting Minutes

(8:30) Ms. Demott addressed the use of professional learning communities--an effective use
of time--improves instruction
Team read an article about use of Norms in PLCs
Team discussed it--accountability, working smart as a team, how norms are violated--what is
the protocol, commitment to carrying out the duties, norms too generic, make norms specific--PLCs should be about improved student learning, stick to agenda, maintain professional
attitudes, the "meat" needs to be in the planning--IMPROVED STUDENT LEARNING, (RTI
(response to intervention)--needs of specific students, maintain professional attitudes--be
aware of each other and respectful of each other, it is about the students and success.
Mrs. Fletcher talked to us about the new school web page. She reminded us to update our
own page.--Page settings, add-in as much information as possible, even photos of projects
(this would help Ms. Fletcher in writing up articles for PR)--MAKE SURE YOU SAVE
Ms. Mitchell said she would talk about Lexiles at the next meeting, She then discussed her
role as an academic coach--help for effectiveness and planning, as ELA specific she feels she
will be able to commit to collaborative planning and organization (our greatest weaknesses as
a department)--she said she will further address these great concerns. She then passed out a
handout about C1 standard for School Improvement--standards and power standards, she
reminded us of an email she sent this morning about curriculum and instruction. You must
know what you want students to know and be able to do. (Come with the planning already
done--then just collaborate!!!!) Provide a skeleton of unit one-- focus standards, summative
assessment, common formative assessment, mechanics, usage, and focus--PAY
ATTENTION TO DUE DATES!!!!
LEXILES at next meeting
parent night next Thursday, Sept. 3
Plan for involvement at next meeting--ELA night
October our month for faculty social
RTI Mrs. Jones will discuss next meeting
SLO will be discussed next time.
We finished our meeting at 9:32.
