All of us work hard every day to earn the trust of our constituents and operate with the utmost transparency and integrity. | believe it is our responsibility to seek that same transparency by calling for a full Subject Matter Hearing to allow for City Council members to gain a full understanding of the circumstances surrounding the Laquan McDonald case This is our opportunity to demonstrate leadership and a willingness to do the right thing by the people that we are called to serve. This subject matter hearing through the Rules & Ethics Committee is an opportunity to hear from the members of our administration - including our Mayor - about the details surrounding this case. Please see the attached document that outlines the content of the proposed hearing. We owe it to the families of Laquan McDonald, Rekia Boyd, and so many others who have experienced delays and denials of justice.
