Math This week we worked on the meaning of fractions, how they

relate to division, how to convert from mixed to improper and vice versa, how to create equivalent fractions, and how to compare and order
fractions and mixed numbers. It was a full week of fractions. We will
be finishing up the unit next week and then testing the following Monday

Reading

Next week we will finish our novel study of The Last Holiday Concert by Andrew Clements. The students are really enjoying
the book, and Im loving the discussions! There will be an end of novel
test next Friday which will cover vocabulary from the book as well as
multiple choice and essay comprehension questions.

Grammar For the next two weeks we will work on identifying and
correctly using adverbs.

Writing This week I sprung a new writing unit on the class. For the
next three weeks, students will be working on an Inquiry Research
Project. They must choose a deep question that they want to research, research and take notes to answer the question, and then
create some sort of presentation to share their findings. I really
wanted to work on their research skills before the new year. After
break students will begin their big state report!

Spelling Next weeks words all contain at least one set of double

consonants. Its going to take practice and memorization for this list!
