3. Ms. Khawaja offers maybe more positive reinforcement than any of the CTs
Ive been able to observe. Every time that someone presents an assignment
or just an idea in a discussion, she takes the time to thank them for sharing
and pull something positive from what they did or said and make sure that it
is noticed. Even if she disagrees with a students point of view or their
answer isnt correct, she finds a positive to pull out of it and use as an
example for the rest of the class.
4. She seems to have created a pretty open classroom environment as far as
talking and moving goes. No one asks to get up to get a tissue or go to the
bathroom, they quietly get the pass or what they need and move back to
their seat as unobtrusively as possible. There isnt an abuse of this just for
the sake of getting up, I think, because she lets them take talking and
stretching breaks during the class if they havent already had to move for
some kind of group activity. The students are allowed to chat when they are
doing group assignments and some when working individually, but from what
Ive observed they dont take advantage of that liberty either. I think this
respect for her policies and rules comes, again, from her respect of them that
she shows through caring and encou
The Physical Environment
My favorite part of her classroom is the far wall where she lets students take
sharpies and sign her wall with quotes, drawings, and their names.
