SUMMARY
Detail-oriented, self-driven, quantitative biologist with expertise in physiology and the use R for statistical
analysis, model-development, and data visualization. Significant experience extracting and cleaning data,
analyzing, and effectively presenting large and/or complex datasets. Adept at conveying multifaceted
methodologies and conclusions to broad audiences in both verbal and written communications, as well as,
working in both independent and collaborative settings.

SKILLS

8+ years manipulating, analyzing, visualizing biological data using R, including ggplot2, ggvis, nlme,
plyr, dplyr, vegan, and sqldf to address physiology responses to environmental change.
6+ years developing a broad statistical background working in R, including use of linear regression,
generalized linear and additive models, principle components analysis, k-means and other
clustering algorithms.
1+ year experience with Python including NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Matplotlib packages
1.5 years of knowledge and experience with C++ and Arduino microcontroller programming
Demonstrated ability to clearly present complex data, communicating broader impacts in written
and verbal contexts including use of Shiny and d3.js for interactive visualizations
Self-motivated, independent and collaborative team member, with the ability to manage multiple
tasks and deadlines and learn new skills quickly.

EXPERIENCE

AUG 2014 PRESENT ADJUNCT PROFESSOR, BIOLOGY DEPT., SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY
Responsible for designing experiments and analyzing complex datasets related to the physiological
responses of organisms to environmental change.
Present the results of complex analysis in a clear and concise manner to a diverse audience both
formal and informal settings, verbally and in writing.
Advise and mentor students, participate as a collaborative team member on committees, working
groups, etc.

2013-2015 POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW, UC DAVIS, with DR. ANNE TODGHAM

Examined the responses of Antarctic fishes and CA invertebrates to climate change
Analysis in R using methods including generalized linear and additive mixed models
Visualized data using R in both static and interactive capacities (ggplot2, d3.js and Shiny)
Communicated findings in peer reviewed publications and presentations

2008-2013 POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW, SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY, with DR. JONATHON STILLMAN
Studied the consequences of environmental change for marine/estuarine invertebrates across
multiple life history stages
Used R for all data analyses (multiple linear regression, multivariate statistics)
Expertly communicated/presented findings to local stakeholders and resource managers, through
working groups, publications, and conference presentations.
