Abstract
One of the biggest problems that the nation faces is a growing crisis know as cyber
bullying. In the big community of El Paso, Texas, we face such a similar problem, over the years
this dilemma has caused much hazing, murders and a frightening number of suicides. Sadly this
problem is not going away any time soon ,but not all hope is lost there are organizations are
stepping and batting this conflicting issue , victims must also do their part and learn to speak up ,
not be afraid and seek help. Ourselves as a community must come together and fight this
dilemma for the reason that in the end who knows how many lives we will be able to save.
El Paso, Texas faces many problems some of which only affect the community and others
that affect people all around the world. Cyber bullying is a common problem specifically in El
Paso, Texas that is not exposed to the public enough. It affects everyone whether it is directly or
indirectly, however cyber bullying is most common to students. It has been the cause of suicides,
homicides, and self harm; besides causing physical harm it can also be harmful emotionally.
Cyber bullying is a problem in El Paso, Texas that we should focus on more and work towards
improving this problem to progress our society as a whole.
Cyber bullying is described in many different ways but what is cyber bullying to be
exact? Cyber bullying is when a young child, teenager, or in some extreme cases an adult can
become a victim of threats or harassment via the internet. Victims are most likely to get bullied
through social media; social media such as Face book, Instagram, Snap chat, and etc The way
these people start to become victimized is different depending on the case. In some cases it
usually starts off with a random being that probably does not like the other person. They come up
with a rumor that offends you, and spread it across the school or the internet. At first the victim
might blow it off and ignore it and the person/persons behind the rumors. However, as time

progresses the rumors stars to get inside the victims head causing them to start becoming
paranoid. These rumors mess with their head so bad that they start to lose their self esteem and
become distant from the rest of society.
The problem of cyber bullying can affect the victims physically and emotionally which
can lead to many severe consequences. Such consequences can affect the victims mental state,
they begin to go mad and for some strange peculiar reason start to show rare signs of aggression
towards almost anyone including family members. It is really disappointing to see this happen, in
worst case scenarios people even end up institutionalized in mental hospitals, when in fact it did
not even have to come to those extremes. Not only are the effects on the victims mental but these
victims also take a physical toll on their bodies. What do I mean by this? These victims not only
go mad but they also cause self harm to their own bodies and mental state. Cutting as they call
it, usually involves them making small incisions on any part of their body whether it be hidden or
not. This is the way they relive their anxiety and hurt. At this point the victim is close to being
a lost cause with a minimal chance of salvation. The worst part of this is that we as a community
see this happen all around us but yet we refuse to speak out or take action against this crime.
Although, cyber bullying has many negative consequences there are also actions that can
be taken to solve or hopefully to prevent this problem and its effects. Many organizations such
Cyberbully 411, Cyberbullying.org, and Enough is Enough and many more all help contribute to
help put an end to cyber bullying. Simple efforts to contribute is just merely taking the time out
of ones day and asking these victims who are affected how their day is going or if they just want
to have a conversation. It helps them improve the way they are feeling due to being cyber bullied
if they maintain a social life and fit into society. Such a small act can go a very long way. it can
even help save someones life. We, as a community, need to show these people how to not be

afraid and to speak out. One can only imagine the pain they must experience every day, we have
to show them how not to be afraid anymore and to help restore their self respect.
In conclusion, there are ways that cyber bullying can be resolved or prevented before
extreme measures are taken. As a community we can take action to help minimize the problem of
cyber bullying. Creating a group that will not only help raise awareness but as a whole help
contribute and make a change for those in desperate need.
