Essay Outline
Introduction:
We are in a state of planetary emergency, where environmental problems are pilling up
around us. Between the global warming, the pollution, the overpopulation, the natural
resource depletion, the waste disposal, the climate change and the loss of biodiversity,
these environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies in the future.
As are environment changes, so does the need to become increasingly aware of the
problems that surround it. We obviously cant reverse the damages that have already been
done, but we can certainly change are ways to encourage an ecologically friendly attitude
and try and slow down the inevitable future of our planet.
Thesis statement:
Our transportation is a big factor in the pollution making and the global warming problem
of our environment. Its an issue that could be changed by the simple act of using electric
vehicles instead of gas-powered cars and trucks. Or even, educating the society to make
better choices involving the environment. Unfortunately the gas-powered car is still more
popular and more used by the general public.
Body:
1. Main idea:
First of all, we are in a critical environmental situation and the electric car could
be a good way to reduce the pollution we, as humans, are causing. But consumers
still tend to go for the gas-powered car.
A) Smog, carbon monoxide, and other toxins emitted by gas-powered vehicles
reduces are air quality and affects the global warming.
B) Even though, the electric car is not very popular in the market. People tend to
go for gas-powered cars because electric cars are more expensive, time
consuming to recharge and have a limited driving range. (the article)

Example: advance drive vehicles = decrease sales of 12% VS conventional gaspowered cars and trucks increase sales of 7.4%, during the same period.
C) With the Nissan study they could conclude that people buy cars based on what
they want and not on what they need.
2. Main idea 2:
Second of all, although the electric car hasnt been selling very well, their
production tends to be increasing. The popularity of, the idea of driving a more
environmentally friendly vehicle, charms the general public.
A) GM, Tesla, Nissan-Renault, Ford Motor Co. all have different electric cars in
the making.
B) Tesla, best known electric car company, believes it can solve the consumer
psychology with its first electric car not to be too expensive and not too limiting.
(49 000$ and 260km before it needs to recharge)
C) They have the idea to educate the consumers about the product by letting them
play around with it.
Example: Apple store
3. Main idea:
Third of all, maybe the education towards a more environmentally responsible
citizen is not created by only letting them tryout more ecological friendly ways,
but actually incorporating environmental studies in educational programs for kids
in elementary schools.
A) The ultimate aim of Education is to shape human behaviour, by that we can
help bring the society to care more about the environment, by teaching young kids
to be more environmentally responsible.
B) Describe objectives (awareness, sensitivity, attitudes, skills, and participation).
By using these objectives in are educational programs we might develop an
environmentally responsible citizen.
C) If young kids understand the nuances of the pollution caused by the gaspowered transportations used today, they would more prone to buy an electric car
when they are older.
Conclusion:
Ultimately, to help the crisis of our environment, changing gas-powered transportations
for electric transportation could be possible by education people. Introducing

environmental studies in elementary school programs would be a potentially good plan.

Hence, what is good or bad for the environment could be learned early in life to
influence and shape a future citizen that would be more environmentally responsible.
That kind of attitude could change the actions people do today, that are environmentally
harmful, and transform them to be less damaging. Which could lead up to an important
reduction of pollution and potentially slowing down global warming.
