Competency A Professionalism and Understanding:


A good professional attitude and approach was shown. Grade 6 targets and
abilities are understood well in the planning and implementation of the
lesson.
Category B Planning for Learning:
This is a large class of 26. The unit title was reinforced My Time. Ideas
were elicited initially from the students. The target language was then
reinforced in a Powerpoint on the board. The lesson was planned well.
Students repeated the target language and some students used the language
in sentences. Make sure all of the slides and the pronunciation of words are
accurate. An interview game was used to contextualize the language and
concepts. This involved different questions and language which was
differentiated for the groups and individual learners. The scanning of pages
from the textbook worked well and reinforced the learning.

Category C Implementing and Managing Learning:


The class was controlled and managed well. Vocal as well as physical
management strategies such as clapping were used to focus the students. A
range of strategies were used. The students attempted to repeat the
instructions and target language in complete English sentences. The use of
the questions worked well because students mainly used full sentences in
English to answer the questions. This served to cut down on the Arabic (L1)
use during the activity and served to encourage students to use English in
complete sentences. The drawing of the pictures of activities liked and
disliked helped to visually reinforce the learning. Groups presenting back to
the group worked well and reinforced the work done and the learning done by
the students. Work from the textbook was also done to focus the learning in
the context of the curriculum. Having students read out the activity

instructions helped to clarify the tasks to be done. The pinning up of activity
pictures up helped to reinforce the learning.

Category D Monitoring and Assessment of Learning:


The group work worked well and most group work had most students
involved an active way.

Category E Reflection:
You were able to reflect well on the strengths and areas for development in
your lesson.

Strengths of the Lesson:


Your classroom management and the clear ways you give instructions and
explain activities. The way that you get students to repeat what has been
learnt to reinforce concepts. The way you commend students and give
positive reinforcement to all students.
Areas for Development:
Try to help some of the weaker students and weaker groups early to help
them complete the tasks.
Focus for next lesson:
Give more time for writing activities or scaffold writing tasks a little more
precisely. Try to be a little more accurate with the time you allot for various
activities.
