What does college


mean?
There are 4 types of schools someone with a
high school diploma can attend to earn an
undergraduate degree:

Specialty School (certificate or diploma)


Technical College (certificate, diploma or Associates degree)
2 year college (Associates degree)
4 year college/university (Bachelors degree)

Freshman admission profiles (aka First-Year Class Profile)


summarize the academic qualifications of applicants and
admitted freshmen to a college/university for the Fall
semester.
The Freshman Index is calculated by combining the high
school grade point average (GPA) with the highest earned SAT
or ACT test scores.

The high school GPA is calculated from the grades earned in the 16
College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) courses for students
graduating prior to 2012, or the 17 Required High School Curriculum
(RHSC) courses for those students graduating 2012 or later.

Most colleges will accept either test. These tests are only required for
admissions to four year colleges. Students can take both.

The New SAT


As of March 1, 2016, only the new SAT will be available.
Scoring will change from 2400 to 1600.
Colleges for the class of 2016 will take either the old or new
SAT.

Students will know reading passages will be based on


historical documents on the new SAT.

The new SAT will be available on paper and in digital form.

1. Go to www.careercruising.com.

2. Log in using the username and password on your


card.
You may be asked to create a new password. If this
occurs, create a new password and write it down on
your card.

3. Please complete either Option A:
Option A For students who can already name three schools
they are interested in.

Type the name of the school into the Search bar in the upper right
and click to search.
The schools information will appear. Review the information and
make sure you like the school.
If you like the school, click the blue Save to My Plan button in the
upper right.
Repeat this process and save two additional schools to your portfolio
for a total of three schools saved.

Option B For students who do not know which schools they are
interested in.
Click on the word Education.
Click on the Majors tab.
In the Keyword Search box, enter the name of the major you are
interested in and click the blue Search button.
Click on the major choice that best fits your interests.
A list of schools that have your major will appear.
