Annotated Bibliography on Childrens Healthcare Insurance

Brown, J., & Brown, W. (2001). Implementation Principles and Strategies for the State
Children's Health Insurance Program. Pediatrics, 107(5), 1214-1220.
The author of this article is explaining the principles in which CHIP offers and what the
benefits are for potential uninsured children , who funds the foundation and makes the
programs secure . The author expresses how pediatricians have accepted and work with
children insurance and designed a certain system . This article is important to my
research ,because it provides the explanation of the system that pediatrician use to access
the information of their patients and see a way how they can help with the treatments .
They move with the rules and help the new uninsured children get the benefits of CHIP
or Medicare. I will use this in my research by giving examples of how doctors have
improved their system to change and help the children and its the change that matters in
article I will use this. This article is relevant because pediatrician are the saviors of the ill
children and parents must understand what process the doctors go through to help their
children.
Colloff, P. (2004, December 30). Cutting Deep - Texas Monthly. Retrieved October 18, 2015.
This article talks about a personal experience of a young boy suffered a critical illness,
the parents were barley making money and were able to pay for the treatments and
medical bills . Under the insurance program of CHIP it covered all the payments with it
the family wouldnt be able to offered the health of their child. With situations like this
happening CHIP changed the eligibility rules and requirements many children lost the
insurance , many parents began to struggle and a lot of issues began to happen in Texas
and other states because of the new criteria. This article is important to my research

because, it shows a personal connection that the reader can understand the situations in
which time and the government has changed certain principles and a lot of people have
lost a lot of benefits as well as gained ,but it is a personal connection the readers can
connect to. I will use this in my research by using the rhetorical element of Ethos to
make a closer connection or a better understanding of the changes the government has
made in helping children and as well as not being able to help children. This is relevant
because it is important to have a connection with the readers and explain that even
though the government can help children they can also change the rules and that what
changes the economy.
Lave, J., Keane, C., Lin, C., Ricci, E., Amersbach, G., & LaVallee, C. (1998). Impact of a
Children's Health Insurance Program on Newly Enrolled Children. JAMA, 279(22),
1820-1820. doi:10.1001/jama.279.22.1820.
This section of research is a article that give specific instructions on how to apply for
your childrens health care insurances it takes the reader step by step with full
explanation on how to fill out the application they need the documents needed to enroll
their children. This article provides tables and picture to help the visual learners
understand and help to complete the application. This article is really helpful , because
since now a days everything meaning application, ways to communicate with people ,
research , questions are done online it is very useful to just look it up and have the actual
application and the specific way to address things to not have any complication when
sending in the application. This article is relevant because it is a simple and easy solution
for the company not to have a lot of parents calling at the same time about the same
questions online it is direct and easy to follow and simple to understand .

Markus, A., & West, K. (2014). Defining and Determining Medical Necessity in Medicaid
Managed Care. Pediatrics, 134(3), 516-522. doi:10.1542
This article is about the policies the pediatricians and the language and system they go
through and the development they had made . With this system its the way they get the
payment form the insurances. This article describes the medical necessities they need
and they send the record of the patient and see how much Medicare or CHIP can cover
for the patient wont have to pay this methods determines a certain discipline that
connects a network between the doctors and the insurance programs . This is important
because it shows a balance of the economy since the doctors get paid they can proved
there expertise and since the insurance covers mostly everything the patient needs it give
the children a better health. It is relevant because a happy doctor mean a happy patient ,
which means a healthy family and a better community.
Olson, L., Tang, S., & Newacheck, P. (2005). Children in the United States with Discontinuous
Health Insurance Coverage. New England Journal of Medicine N Engl J Med, 382-391.
doi:10.1056/NEJMsa043878
This article describes how many children are uninsured and the different percentages
every year with the percentages will go up or down it describes the different insurances
the state of Texas provides and it compares the different coverage within the insurance
programs. It also states on how to stay covered with the insurance how to have a secure
spot in qualification. This article is important ,because its important to see the changes a
organization has especially one that is national to see the improvements and
disadvantages that happened through out the years. This is relevant ,because my research
needs datas , facts, numbers to show a stronger argument about the children.

Smith, C., Cowan, C., Sensenig, A., & Catlin, A. (2005). Health Spending Growth Slows In
2003. Health Affairs, 24(1), 185-194. doi:10.1377/hlthaff.24.1.185
This article is about the foundation of CHIP and Medicare how much many flows in add
out of these organizations , the different years comparisons of the money flow , it
describes the public foundation and the private foundation the donations and how the
money is distributed to the hospitals, clinics , doctors, physicians, nursing homes ,and
specialist . The author express this ides to provided accurate information that will be
useful in my research because its shows parents where the money they pay in their taxes
goes towards too. Paying their taxes buys for their children or other childrens health that
is how the federal government pays off the doctors , nurses, etc. by taxes and it may
cause some issues to some people but that is the way the system has been for decades,
theres not much change expect that taxes get higher . This relevant because taxes is a
huge issue to people and to parents and knowing where that money goes might cause a
steady or stable solution ,because parents and others know where their money goes.
The Children's Health Insurance Program: Protecting America's Children and Families. (2014,
September 16). Retrieved October 18, 2015, from
http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CHRG-113shrg94479/pdf/CHRG-113shrg94479.pdf
This article is about how the average American families cant manage to support their
family on the income they make . Families do need protection and help from the
government , because the economy is to expensive and the economy doesnt provide a
lot of money flow because when people get paid the taxes take away a lot of the
percentage of the actual money people make. This article is useful for my research

because it shows a personal connection with the reader where there is a relation and
experience that may or not happen . This is relevant because with a personal connection
it makes my topic more approachable and understanding it helps the reader get a better
idea of what is happening with my topic and how it is affecting the community and the
people of the community.
Well, A. (n.d.). Caring for Children. 33(12), 2094-2094. doi:10.1377/hlthaff.2014.1291
This article is personal experiences are different chronic illnesses and common
illness medicare or chip take awareness of this problems and how there is
different organization that network together to help the children get better and
healthier. It also describes the coverage certain illnesses the insurance provides
and the share that the federal government gives on spending on children. This is
important because even with common illness the insurance programs don't give
up on the children and still provide and respond as a big deal because they're
goal is to make every child possible healthy. I will use this research by stating
the benefits and showing how the doctors processed with the patients with
checkups , or by stating the reduction of the prices of the parents and how the
benefits are and the privileges that the insurance program have. This relevant
because the reader can make a connect and be informed of how focused that
programs are to help out the children .
