The Horizon Travel Company established in 2014. I work in there as a volunteer operator.
The major work for me is to arrange travel route for the customers from China and pre-order
cars and hotels in the Yellowstone. Though I will not enjoy any compensation in the
company. I am very glad that I have an opportunity to work. The supervisor Leah told me
that if I performance well, she would give me a chance to work in Horizon Travel as a formal
employee. I will do my best during the work. And Leah set some goals for me and I write
them in the goals and objectives. The first goal I should do is to arrange the travel route for
the customers.
Before working, Leah required me to read all of feedbacks the company received, the
scenic spots in the SLC and Yellowstone. Then I know how to deal with the popular
problems if happened and am familiar with each place of sight spots and arrange the
reasonable travel route for the customers. Leah said she required customers to fill in the
feedback. Leah is a serious person. If the guide got bad feedback, Leah would not employ
him again. I would hard work in the Horizon Travel Company I told to Leah.
The Horizon Travel Company makes businesses with other travel companies and to
receive order forms from them. As an operator, I am processing the orders. There are some
requirements on the orders including type of cars, the ranking of hotels and meal choice. I
should finish them step by step according to the orders. On the second week, I made a
mistake. I pre-order the van and hotel for the customers without order confirmation from
them. When I received the email from the customers that required me to change cars and
hotels, I felt very sad and had no idea how to do it. Finally, Leah helped me. We argued with
car and hotel customer service till the next morning and achieved success. I worried that Leah
would fire me. But she did not. I apologized to Leah and promised would never made the
same mistake again. Leah said when you met the problem; the first thing is to think how to
deal with it. I was very thankful to her.
I am very interested in the position of the Horizon Travel Company. The major reason is

that I met a good boss. And the experience I gathered from the Horizon Travel Company,
which helps me have a good communication with customers. And I hope I have an
opportunity to work in it as a formal employee. Horizon Travel provides a chance for me to
use knowledge of marketing, budgeting and finance I learned from the class, which is good
for my placement in the future. Through the internship, I could improve myself in the
different aspects of marketing and communication. For the next five years, I plan to be an
operator manager in Travel Company in China. I have related experiences, strong
responsibility and participating in the work.

Relevant: marketing and budgeting I learned from the university.
Challenging: to argue with the customer service.

What did you learn from the experience?
I learned when I met a trouble; I should not feel sad and disappointed. I have to find a
method to resolve it.


What worked well? What would you change next time?
Well: Pre-order good condition and low price hotels and cars.
Change: Order the wrong hotel and cars. I will not make the same mistake again.
