Small Group Work 9/15/2015
Complete the following two tasks, then begin drafting. Remember to schedule the
supporting work and group meetings:
1. In two paragraphs, summarize the key findings from our interview with
Professor Brentrup.
QA Interview:
In this QA, we found the prospective end goal is an educational tool and a data
assessment that will be created through workshops for each individual building.
This research will look at the resource usage of commercial buildings and map the
effect it has on the human comfort: both physically and psychologically. They will
have a sample size of three to four buildings initially, then expand to a national level
as the research grows in size.
They are currently in a pilot study that is expected to last until June 2016 that will
feature three experiments. The first is a blind study where they are not given any
information about their comfort and energy use. The second study will have the
users slightly informed on their comfort decisions, through a lecture before the
study. The last study will give the users added control of their comfort and energy
uses.
2. Review briefly your own and the provided notes, articles, Powerpoint
presentation slides, and related materials for the project from our Moodle
page. As you do so, create a group-authored idea map of the problem and/or
project plan of the kind found on p.43 of the Johnson-Sheehan text (hand
drawn is fine you can submit a photograph of it). This idea map should
include as many major and minor research and reporting tasks as you group
can anticipate.
See idea map in attached picture.
