Zombies in accordance to the Education
Zombies are the characters that give us an example of the uneducated people living on
the earth. The movie 28 Day Later and Fido gives us a good perspective and examples about
what is fear of the zombie and how zombies have to be treated. In order for them to adjust into
the society, the society had researched about them in order to control them. As such, education is
very important in the world. This was realized when there was a huge gap between educated and
uneducated people in the world. The modern society with which we are living today is the
society of educated people. Educated people do have their norms and terms which they define
life and they live within it (Tuck, Ken McClatchy 12). Although, uneducated people find the hard
ways of living in the society, zombies on the other hand find it hard to adjust with the society.
With the comparison of both movies, 28 days later and Fido, an argument can be analyzed that
zombies can also be compared about the situation of uneducated people living in the society and
how earlier they were being treated with the present situation.
With the historical representation of zombies, zombies are being portrayed in a sense that
they can virtually harm the society with their thirst of the blood. This can be related to the thirst
and quench of the education in the modern world. In the article of Zombie Manifesto, the author
describes about the complete manifesto of Zombie from its character to living and the reaction of

Alshatti 2

people to zombies. In her article, she had explained about the Zombie character as Monster
showing the power of the zombies. Also, Zombie Brain was completely analyzed by the author
and shown the world about the factory worker mechanistic performance (Sarah 2). This was the
crucial moment to understand about the zombies. This made people to find it difficult for them to
adjust Zombies with them in the common society. The early man comes to a perfect example
from where the education and the thirst of education started in order to have betterment in the
living. Lets talk about the history of the world where there was early man that used to live in
jungles, can be closely related to the history of Zombies and their characters. The early man used
to have raw food and there was no civilization on the face of earth. This history can be eventually
compared with the history of zombies and their terms. When thinking about Zombies and
considering them to be similar to uneducated people, the movie 28 Days Later and Fido
reflects about the change of the society from having uneducated people, to training of
uneducated people in order to change the society. But does zombies do really get trained in order
to live in a perfect society? This argument can be analyzed on the aspect of the treatment of
educated people to uneducated people.
Thinking from the segment of comparison, Zombie character can be easily reflected to
the uneducated people. As it is known about the fact of the Zombie apocalypse and in the 21st
Century, this apocalypse had been to become to an increasing rate as lot of movies and
books are written on zombie apocalypse. From the books, it can be inferred about a general
idea that zombie does affect the society to a greater extent. For instance, zombies in all the
literature are being shown as a flesh-eating character that harms the society by eating the raw
flesh of the human and that does in turn changes them to Zombies. In the article by Daniel
Drezner, he is talking about the effects of zombie apocalypse on the world and how it changes

the whole society upside down due to fear. With the education perspective, it can be analyzed
that with the changing level of society, people found the need of education in the growing
days.
Education alters Society this term can be related in a positive manner that in an
educated society, there exist peace in the society as the educated people do share a common
platform in their living. From the perspective of the movie 28 Days Later, this movie had
reflected how zombies had ruled the world and how people were forced to live the places and
find a good shelter in order to achieve peace. Also, when the hero of the movie had woke up after
28 Days, he found that the world is completely changed. This situation can be easily compared
with the time before the industrial revolution in the world where educated people does have to
create a space between the common people and does have to make them understand that
education and industrial revolution is very important for the productivity of their life and the
world.
Further talking about the living of educated people, people in olden time were afraid
about the happenings around them. They see and visualize the living of uncivilized people, they
intend to change it. This whole situation can be termed as a cold war between civilized and noncivilized people. People understood that in order to suppress the other opponent, coming to
power was the great decision that has to be made. Therefore, civilized people power and
government made common uncivilized people to think about the importance of education. In the
article by Slemming Brain, Brain had focused about the issue of agriculture that how still
uneducated people does use agriculture, but the productivity by and educated farmer and
uneducated farmed differs. In his article Educating the Uneducated (Brain), he had stressed

Alshatti 4

about the importance and basic knowledge about various fertilizers and pesticide that most of the
common people doesnt know about it.
The movie 28 Days Later had given a whole picture about the previous world where
how there existed a gap between educated and uneducated people. In the movie, the scenes of
normal people finding a shelter away from zombies clearly reflects that educated people dont
even know how to control the common people.
In the basic life, in order to find the solution of the problem, root cause analysis is very
important and necessary. This will show up the main problem from its existence and the reason
of the problem. The article by Adam Person in Zombie Films inspire Real-life Research
discusses about the research on the living and their eating habits of zombies in order to find a
solution to conquer them. In this article, he talks about his research on every aspect of zombie
from his thinking and his movements on his thoughts. This article gives a clear picture about how
researchers and people find a solution to the problem by finding the root cause analysis of the
problem. This can be clearly related to the situation that happened in the Industrial Revolution.
In the industrial revolution of the world, educated and upper class people found out the
root cause of the gap between them and lower class people and in order to suppress the lower
class, heavy taxes with long hours of labor was being suppressed on them. This had created the
lower class people to rethink about the whole situation and get over it. This analysis by the upper
class people was the great analysis. With this, it can be said that the training of the lower class
people to make them civilized was started.
This can also be related from the movie Fido where the scientist and researchers had
found out an alternative solution about the training and civilization of zombies. It can be also

Alshatti 5

said that in the movie Fido, the world had found out an alternative solution of how the zombies
and people could live together and how to make the world peaceful place to live in. In the movie
Fido was a trained zombie which was kept by a family. This shows that how uneducated
people started to find jobs in the upper class society in order to get to know about them and to
change their status of living.
Fido movie can be related to the industrial revolution till the present situation in todays
world. In todays world, it is a well-known fact that uneducated people end up in getting blue
collar jobs in the society. The society never impresses about their hard work and keeps on
insisting them to work more hard in their life. Also, they get paid less when compared too many
business managers and high profile people. In this movie, all the zombies were trained in order to
assists the people in the society and this can be clearly seen that they had been working in bluecollar jobs as their dress was also designed in blue. Just the other worker form Zomcon had
loved his Zombie girlfriend and want to keep her for her life; he was being fired from his job for
his actions. From this instance, it can be easily concluded that the society do not accept the
binding relationships with the people having different groups for class. In order for the lower
class people to work, the upper class society works on keeping the gap between the sections of
the people.
In the article Zombies in the Workplace by Stephen Hacker, the author talks about the
working of zombies with the common people. This article is about how educated people that is
working with uneducated people and how the training of uneducated people is essential for them
to increase the productivity with the work. Also, in his article, he is talking about how to explain
the workers of the quality in the work and the different quality tools such as Six Sigma, Lean
Manufacturing that can be explained to the workers. Still, it has been found that without the basic

Alshatti 6

knowledge and with having strong background skills, this cannot be fully explained to the
workers as a result this shows that there is a gap between upper class and lower class people.
Also, people never tried to really break the ice between upper and lower class, thinking about
their stand on the situation.
In conclusion, the movies 28 Days Later and Fido come in the series when talking
about the application of education and knowledge in the people. In the earlier movie, it had been
described that people fear from zombie as they do not know about the zombie character and this
had eventually made them to run away from the situation. In the second movie Fido, people
had understood the zombie character by research and development and had found a way of
making earth a better place by sharing the world with zombies, but making them work for them.
Both the movies fits perfect as an example for the history of the world and the education system
of the world. In earlier days, people did not find education as an important tool and kept on
believing that the main motto of life is to work hard. But since the things started to change,
people understood the importance of the education and had changed themselves in order to
survive in the world. The upper class people shown in the movie Fido and their attitude
towards common people can be easily reflected on the present day society and their attitude.
Even in the present day society, the attitude of upper class people is same as shown in the movie.
