Intro:
All of this information explains a lot of resources that were researched like explaining diversity
and anything that would be similar with standing up for rights. From what was explained from
these articles, they seemed like they were brief and specific for the things what would happen
around the world. Even though those articles are read, there are always lots of questions to ask
about those articles because we do start to wonder what happens next in that story as we research
through those resources.
Celebrating Diversity On Human Rights Day:
For this article, it said that people around the world celebrate this celebration called,
Celebrating Diversity On Human Rights Day. Each year during December 10th, people get
together and celebrate diversity and human rights due to fighting against discrimination. Most of
it will have to do in the past explaining that not a lot of people had their rights in the past like
people do today due to discrimination. Most of the time, people in Labanon dont bring up the
past about discrimination because they dont want to bring up painful memories to people. Most
importantly, Human Rights Day was a day where they fought for their rights in order to earn
their rights. It became a day where people embraced diversity and fought to end discrimination.

The reason why Im interested in this topic is because I thought that it was interesting that I learn
about peoples pasts and then I learn about how all of these people are celebrating diversity
together and I find it great that they do that together because it makes me feel that its a very
heartwarming experience for people to get together while they celebrate diversity together.

Texas High School Sparks Controversy With Alleged Black-Only Meeting:
In Texas High School right around in Houston, Texas, that high school has been having
meetings which have been only allowing black people instead of allowing people with other race
ethnicities. The only time the meeting ever talked about were open discussions, organized help,
and grades. The question was, Why wouldnt they let other people be part of the meeting based
on the color of their skin? While it was becoming a problem, that school was also on the news
right on ABC13. (Nik Bonopartis Texas High School Sparks Controversy With Alleged BlackOnly Meeting (Houston, Texas) Opposing Views. Web. 12 Nov. 2015)
Louisiana Bar Stamped The N-Word On A Black Womans Hand:
A college student named Taylor Ward who studies at Louisiana State University, she also
joined in with her friends to go to a bar called, Reggies around in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As
she entered through the bar, someone stamped her hand in black print that said, REGGIN bet
when she read it upside down, it looked like that there was the n-word on her hand which made
her get offended. She had a huge complaint about it that she also reported it to the manager too
but the manager said that he wasnt going to be making any changes in that bar and then she said
that she wouldnt be coming over there again because of that stamp on her hand. (Kathryn

Girls Only Lego Club (Teacher Conducts Controversial Experiment to Promote Equality):
A kindergarten teacher around Bainbridge Island, Washington has created a lego club for
girls only which means that the teacher hasnt been allowing boys to play lego while the girls are
playing with lego blocks. So far, that teacher noted gender stereotypes about how girls spend
most of their time playing with dolls and how boys spend most of their time playing with blocks.
So far, building legos have been helping girls with accelerating development with math skills.
Another kindergarten teacher also told Bainbridge that she believes that women are being
socialized as gender stereotypes from a young age. This lady named Keller said, The stuff Lego
is marketing for girls is just so limiting. I just feel like we are still so far behind in promoting
gender equality. She then decided to do something about supporting gender equality by doing
an experiment in the classroom by giving girls the option to develop with different toy
preferences. According to Fox News, they said that she said, I proposed allowing girls to have
an unemcumbered opportunity to become more comfortable working with legos in an attempt to
support girls with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math.) I treat all my students with
equal respect and kindness. (Jonathon Constante Girls Only Lego Club: Teacher Conducts

Who Will Stop The Bullying? Emotional PSA Shows Bystanders Helping Bullied Child:
There was a social experiment of an anti-bullying organization. With this story, there was
a video of two girls acting like bullies who were harassing a younger girl who were younger than
them. As the older girls continued to berate the younger child, they made fun of her by telling her
she cant sing, shes a freak, and that she has no friends. In each clip, an adult is nearby who
hears the remarks that initially shows that an adult appeared to be ignoring the situation. As some
adults were walking through and witnessed some bullying going on, some adults stood up for
that young child by saying, How would you like it if who was a bit older than you came and
told you that you werent any good? Then another one asked, Do you guys have anything nice
to say? Then a woman walked up and said, Dont mess with her like that. Its not nice.
Moments later, those adults encouraged that little girls to be confident about herself and to not
always let the bullying bring her down. Every year during October is Bullying Prevention Month
which helps kids, teenagers, and adults stand up against bullying. (Reve Fisher Who Will Stop
