Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact

Rationale/Reflection

InTASC/NAEYC Standard: Standard #10: Leadership and Collaboration

The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student
learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and
community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession.

Brief Description of Evidence:

As a part of my EDUC 101 class for fall semester, a partner and I found ideas to host a family
night. We researched activities for each subject to go along the theme of Disney/Pixar. This
assignment was made for us to be able to prepare a family night so that everyone in the school
can get involved as well as parents, or siblings.

Analysis of What I Learned:

The knowledge I obtained during this experience is mainly how to make sure that activities
match certain grade levels, and take leadership for learning. My partner and I made two different
family nights one for K-2nd and the other for 3rd-5th. I learned how important it is to plan
activities that keep the kids interested, but also how to incorporate their families to grow in
learning.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the InTASC/NAEYC

Standard:

My competence in this standard is proven by my ability to take leadership in student learning and
getting families, colleagues, and other community members involved by hosting a family night.
We ensured learner growth by having not only fun activities, but academic ones like the
biography about Walt Disney. I was able to understand how important it is to get those
community members, colleagues, families, and other school professionals involved.
