Essay III, Rough Draft: Obesity in America: Eradicate the Fat
The 21st century of the U.S has more than two thirds obese or, overweight adults, thats
34.9%,78.6 million adults and approximately 17% , 12.7 million of children and adolescents
aged 219 years are obese, based on the statistics found on the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC). Children obesity rates have remain the same for the past 10 years (CDC) but,
eventually theyll fall into the adult statistics of obesity. The problem is ethnicity, lifestyle, food
high in fat and education about nutritious food. Clear reasons why Americans are obese;
consumption of processed food, lack of exercise and, having no money for recrecreational
activities. Resources are available for the American to take advantage of. However, America is
undergoing an era of recession, therefore causing economic problems. Thus, adults always obt
for affordable food because theyre on a budget vs. veggies and other nutritional foods
expensiveness. Little do they know that continuous bad choices in cheap
food with no exercise, leads to health problems, e.g. diabetes and heart disease. Ultimately,
everyone wants to live a long happy life filled with health. In order to do so, America to get back
on the road of healthy weight. Although obesity problems in America have been addressed by
fast food establishments providing nutritional facts and schools banning junk food sales,
Americas obesity problem still remains the same, therefore the government should invest
millions on better food/housing programs, millions on updating recreational parks with updated
gym facilities and, regulate processed foods quality.
