Description
Mount Royals Bachelor of Child Studies (BCST) is the only four-year child studies program
offered in Western Canada.
With a fresh approach to child studies, Mount Royals distinctive four-year program
emphasizes strong theoretical foundations in early learning or child and youth care while
providing valuable hands-on experiential learning opportunities in- and outside the
classroom. Going beyond traditional program offerings, the BCST focuses on creating
experienced and well-rounded graduates and role models that are prepared to become
strong advocates for children and youth in the community, or pursue further education at a
graduate school level.
You will have the opportunity to specialize in one of the two majors with each of the
streams offering current perspectives that emphasize collaboration and community
leadership skills. The BCST equips students with a combination of theory and practical
skills to pay it forward by making a difference in the life of children or youth as a mentor,
leader or counsellor.
