Scope: To Develop a Work Schedule using a PM Software and Prepare a


Report

ASSUMPTIONS

2 areas divided as seperate projects

Both areas are assumed to start at the same time (March 1st, 2016)

4 phases assigned
-Engineering
-Procurement
-Construction
-Testing

Contract Award assigned as Start Milestone (PMIL)

Mobilization assigned as a common activity for both projects

Mechanical Completion assigned as Finish Milestone (PMIL)

ASSUMPTIONS

ASSUMPTIONS

As work calendar, default 5 day workweek chosen without any national


holidays.

ASSUMPTIONS
For Lime Slaking Tank (Area 70)

Mechanical design has been assumed to be related with process design start to start
with 30 days lag.

Civil/structural design is considered to start 30 days after the start of the mechanicl
design.

Slaking equipment tendering start was taken 30 days lag from the start of process
design.

Tanks tendering is considered to start after mechanical design starts with 30 days lag.

Structural steel tendering has 45 days lag than the start of civil design process.

Excavation of foundations has 50 days lag than the civil design process while it is also
related to mobilization with finish to start logic and zero delay.

ASSUMPTIONS
For Water Filtration Tank (Area 72)

Mechanical design is started with a delay of 45 days related to process design start to start and finish
to finish.

Civil structural design is related with mechanical design with a delay of 45 days than start to start of
and 65 days than finish to finish.

Conveyor tendering is considered with mechanical design by a lag of 45 days start to start.

Pumps tendering is also taken with mechanical design by a lag of 45 days start to start.

Tanks tendering is started from the start to start of mechanical design with 45 days lag.

Drum filters tendering also has 45 days lag with mechanical design activity start to start logical
relationship.

Expressor tendering is also considered as 45 days lagged since the start to start of mechanical design.

Structural steel tendering is started with 55 days lag of civil/structural design start to start which is the
half duration of it.

Excavation of foundations starts with the finish to start of mobilization while it is also constrained with
a start to start logical relationship with civil/structural design by a lag of 80 days.

5 types of labor resource have been defined in the software;

Indirect

Max Units/Time:120h/d is the parameter which was assumed for all the resources.

The daily unit is 8h/d which depends on the calendar that was selected at the
beginning of the project.

Taking advantage of free float times of related activities, these points have
been levelled without affecting neither the durations of the activities nor
the total duration of the projects;

Activity id# 490 Form/Rebar/pour-Foundations used to have 45 days of


free float, delayed for 45 days

Activity id# 200 Install 70R1-05 Lime Tanks which used to have 20 days
of free float has been delayed 10 days

Activity id# 220 Install 70Z1-01 -Hydro. cyc. System which used to have
20 days of free float have been delayed 5 days

INDIRECT PERSONNEL
DETERMINATION
Indirect personnel refers to staff who is not directly included in the application,
production or manufacturing etc. For the consturction sites, these examples can
be given for indirect personnel;

Site Chief

Accountants

Project Managers

Drivers

Security guards

Cookers etc.

INDIRECT PERSONNEL
DETERMINATION

The number of indirect personnels has been assumed in a duration period way.

For each phase, an average number of indirect personnel has been assigned for each
day of that phase.

These activities are inputted to the software as WBS summary type activities so that
the duration of these activities are automatically set to the duration of that phase.

The assumed average manpowers are given below;


(Same for both projects)

Procurement 5 personnels

Construction 10 personnels

Testing 5 personnels

INDIRECT PERSONNEL ASSIGNMENT

CAMP SIZE

Dividing manhours by 40 which is weekly


work hour;
The peak personnel amount is
determined as 62.
Considering some flexibility tolerance
(for additional guests or controllers etc.),
the camp facilities size is taken as 65
personnels.
