Manage your Windows servers from OS/400

You can manage your Windows servers from OS/400.


v You can view, and in some cases change, the current Manage properties for Windo
ws server on
iSeries (attributes) of your Windows server from OS/400.
v You can Display Windows server information on OS/400 and the status of Windows s
erver resources.
v You can Monitor Windows server event logs on OS/400 on page 86 from OS/400.
v You can manage line descriptions that are created when you install Windows ser
ver by using the Work
with Line Descriptions command: WRKLIND LIND(network-server-name).
v You can manage TCP interfaces that are created during the installation by usin
g either of these
commands:
Work with TCP/IP Network Status (NETSTAT) command, option 1
Configure TCP/IP (CFGTCP) command, option 1
v You can monitor system loads by:
Work with Disk Status: Type WRKDSKSTS and press Enter

Manage properties for Windows server on iSeries
You can view, and in some cases change, the current properties (attributes) of y
our Windows server from
OS/400. Properties that you can access include:
v Hardware name and type
v Windows server version, build, and service pack level
v iSeries Integration for Windows Server version, language version, and service
packs
v Message logging information
To view or change current properties on the Windows server from OS/400 by using
iSeries
Navigator, follow these steps:
1. Expand Network
2. Expand Windows Administration
3. Select Integrated xSeries Servers
4. Right-click on the Windows server and select Properties
5. On the Properties dialog, click on any of the tabs to view or change the curr
ent properties of the
server
If you want to use CL commands, see WRKNWSD, CHGNWSD, and DSPNWSD.
Display Windows server information on OS/400
From OS/400, you can display information about your Windows server and its opera
tion. You can find out
whether a Windows server on an Integrated xSeries Server is running. You can als
o check the status of
resources that are associated with the server. You can see information about CPU
utilization, paging file
usage, registry quota, and the number of server sessions.
To view or monitor the status of the Integrated xSeries Server by using iSeries
Navigator, follow these
steps :

1. Select Network
2. Select Windows Administration
If the server is not started, you can view system operator messages.
