Make-up and Late Work

LATEWORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR CREDIT. I hold students to a high
level of responsibility. Communicate with me BEFORE it happens and I may
offer grace.
Advice to Students
1. Utilize class time you should not have homework in this class if you do
this.
2. Communication is the key to success. I give grace with communication.
3. Give Respect; Get Respect
Policies
Mr. Vander Harts classroom is a fun environment where learning happens
daily. Show me that you can handle the responsibility that I give you and I will
give you more. Show me that you cant, and I will give you less.

1 Room, Equipment & Computers

Respect room and all of its contents.
Computers are for EDUATIONAL USE ONLY. Use of computers is a
privilege.
Leave work area better than you found it.
Only bottled water is allowed around the computers.
You can have food and drink around the tables away from
computers.
2 Electronics
Sometimes I allow students to listen to music on their own
devices. This is a privilege that can be revoked if abused.
Use of any electronic device while I am talking will result in loss of
professionalism points as well as device privileges.
3 Cheating/Plagiarism
The school policy will be enforced read the full details in your planner. All
participants equally will be held accountable. To clarify the consequences,
parents will be contacted and the student will:
earn a zero on the work
get an office referral/ parents contacted
go on Academic Probation for a minimum of 9 weeks
Should a second offence occur (in any class) during this probationary period,
the students' grade will either drop to failing (59%) OR will remain the same if
their grade is below a 59%. The students can either improve or drop this
grade by their efforts for the remainder of the disciplinary cycle.
CONSEQUENCES
The consequences will vary based on the degree of the offense as determined
by the instructor. The general guidelines are as follows:
1st offense discussion with instructor
2nd offense above plus detention(s) assigned &/or parents contacted
3rd offense above plus parent conference requested &/or referral to the
office
Detentions not served will double and parents will be called.
My philosophy
I want you (the parent) to have the opportunity to be as involved as you
need to be in monitoring the success of your child. I personally believe that we
should teach our kids to be responsible and accountable for their
achievements as high school students, but I also recognize that all students
have different needs. We share the same goal, so I ask for your help now in
monitoring their progress! Please feel free to contact me anytime, your childs
