A new president is voted in every four years in the United States. The next election
for President of the United States of America is coming up! Voting is for our next
President is scheduled for Tuesday, November 8, 2016. The date seems far off, but
it is important to start getting educated about everything voting so you can be a
rational voter.
Candidates
To run for President of the United States of America there are some requirements:
the individual must be 35 years old, be native-born citizens in the United States,
and must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years. The President serves
a 4 year term, and can serve a maximum of 2 terms. It is important to get familiar
with all the candidates and their views. Here are two of the main candidates:

How To Vote
Requirements
Voters must be US citizens of at least 18 years old that have been residents
of their area at least 30 days before election day.
Registering to vote
Voting registration for Utah is available online at vote.usa.gov.
Registration is also available in person, or by mail.
To register by mail, go to
www.eac.gov/voter_resources/register_to_vote.aspx, fill out the forms, sign
them, and mail them in!
To register in person, there are several places that may be able to help apply.
Several of the places include:
DMV
Election offices
Armed service recruitment centers
Public assistance agencies

Absentee Voting
You can still vote if you are away from home by an absentee ballot, which allows
you to vote before the election and mail it in to your local election officials.
Absentee ballots are available by contacting local, state, or territorial election
offices.
Voting
On election day, votes can be casted at polling places or polling stations.
