IG NOBEL PRIZES 2015

This year is the 25th year of Ig Nobel Prizes. The prize is given
for research that makes you laugh and then makes you think.
The prize for physiology went to a scientist studying bees. He
let bees sting him on 25 different spots on his body. Why? To
find out which was most painful. He found that being stung in
his nostril was the worst also on the upper lip was very
painful. He said that stings to his penis and testicles were
uncomfortable.

Another scientist also got a prize for physiology. He created a

sting pain index it rates pain caused by wasps, bees and ants.
He was stung more than a thousand times by 150 different
species. A honey bee has a level two sting and a bullet ant
scores the highest pain level.
The medical prize went to doctors researching appendicitis.
They found a way that they could be more accurate in their
diagnosis how much pain did the patient get driving over

speed bumps. This is as good as many other ways to see if

people have appendicitis.
The literature prize went to researchers who found that the
word Huh? can be found in every language. It also sounds the
same in every language.
The biology prize went to scientists studying dinosaurs. They
found that if you attach a weight to the rear end of a chicken, it
walks like a dinosaur.
The physics prize was won for finding that most mammals take
21 seconds to urinate. It does not matter how big or small the
mammal is an elephant or a shrew.

The chemistry prize was won

for finding out how to un-boil
an egg. The scientists found

way to break down the

proteins and return the egg
to its liquid form.
The maths prize went to scientists for finding out if the Emperor
of Morocco, Moulay Ismael, could have had 868 (eight hundred
and sixty eight) children between 1697 and 1727. They found
that it could be true if he had sex once a day for 32 years

without a break.

The economics prize went to the Bangkok Police they offered

to pay policeman extra cash. For what? For refusing to take
bribes.
