FOCUSED INSTRUCTION
(3a, 3d)

1. State the purpose of the lesson.

2. Introduction: We have been working hard on our writings and
creating great pieces. You have created some great narratives
and I want you to be able to share them with others so they
can help you celebrate but also so that they can help you to
continue to grow. You have finished them to the best of your
ability for now but we all know that there is always room for
improvement because we have a growth mindset. I have set it
up so that you can create blogs and share them with another
class that is in Maine. Today we are going to create our blogs
and then publish our first post on them, our personal
narratives.
3. Show students how to create a blog.
a. Go to blogger.com where it will ask them to sign in with
their Google account. (They are to use their school
account regardless of if they have their own from
home.)
b. They will then create a name for their blog and a web
address. The name of the blog must contain only their
first name and grade. Example: Johns Fifth Grade

their final draft from their typed copy.
e. Let them publish their writing.
Cover the rules of posting on other classmates writings such
as no bullying, constructive criticism only and what that means,
and the appropriate use of the blogs.
Allow students time to explore their blog as well as their
classmates, Here they can read each others writings and give
words of encouragement.
Explain how they will later get a chance to be partnered up
