Objectives:
COMMUNICATION:
o Develop physical, vocal, and performance skills that foster an ability to clearly communicate ideas,
thoughts and feelings.
ANALYSIS:
o Interpret plot structure and dramatic themes within scenes and plays.
o Reflect on and evaluate performances.
AESTHETICS:
o Understand interrelationship of technical elements of theatre and how they are used to enhance a
production.
CULTURE:
o Analyze theatre in terms of the social, historical, and cultural contexts in which it was created.
o Understand the traditions, roles, and conventions of theatre as an art form.

One three ring binder (1) with loose leaf notebook paper OR one spiral notebook or journal
Pencil
You will be required to see one play over the course of the semester you may choose to see the
preview performance of the Spring Musical on Thursday, March 3rd this performance is free for
students in a theatre class in the Spring semester. Otherwise, you will need to see a high school,
community, or professional theatre show outside of school.
The final exam performance will take place on the evening of Wednesday, June 1st at 7:00pm.
You are required to attend. Put this event on your calendar now!
Grading:
You will be graded according to the total point system. Your grade will be a combination of major and minor
assignments, and of daily participation points. According to this system, a major assignment worth 150
points holds more weight and affects your grade more than a minor assignment worth only 15 points. We
will review this system in class.
