Streaming media with

VideoLAN

Streaming media from one computer to another.

Step 1: Installation.
Install the VLC media player on both computers.

Step 2: Choose a video and configure the transmission.

In the Open Media dialog, select stream, and after selecting your media click the
Stream button.
The Stream Output window will appear and lists the media source you selected.

On the Destination Setup pane, youll need to choose a destination for your
stream.

Select RTP/MPEG Transport Stream and write the IP from the other computer.

Choose the transcoding settings. It depends of destination device and the

quality you want for your transmission.

To start transmission click the button Stream.

Step 3: Reproduced transmission on the other computer.

Go to Network Streams SAP on the playlist window.

We can see the transmission, select it and click play.

The first computer is streaming the video and the other is playing it.

Streaming media from one computer to a mobile device.

We need to install VLC in the mobile device.
On the computer, we follow the same steps we take to transmit from computer
to computer.
On the transcoding options choose video for Android.

Step 1: Open VLC on the mobile device and select stream.

On the computer select the transmission and show information, then go to the
mobile device and enter IP and the number of the port.

And the video automatically starts playing.

Streaming the desktop from one computer to another.

To stream your desktop click the Stream option in the Media menu and select
Capture Device tab.

The steps are the same as for transmitting video.

Go to the other computer and play the transmission.
