To Whom It May Concern:

It is a pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Sarah Camp as she begins her career in education. Sarah
participated in the iTeachAZ program through ASU which allowed her to spend the entire 2015-2016 school year teaching
children, both typical kindergarten students at Hohokam Traditional School which is a Title 1 school in the Scottsdale
Unified School district with a diverse student population, as well as with students that have special physical and emotional
needs at Pima Elementary School. I write this letter as her teacher mentor in kindergarten.
Sarah was an exceptional teacher candidate. She was required to plan, teach, and assess students in all content areas and I
always found her to be professional and well prepared. Our classroom included some students with language delays and
varied ability levels. Sarah created lessons and units of study that met all students needs by integrating technology,
language rich literature and visual displays. She was able to transfer her knowledge and enthusiasm to the students in the
classroom while maintaining her high expectations in academics and behavior.
Sarah was instrumental in increasing student achievement in our classroom. We implement the rigorous Common Core
Standards and Sarah helped this become one of the most exciting and rewarding years ever. The kindergarten teams goal
this year was to really attack the writing standards by increasing the pacing that the students learned letters/sounds/and
sight words. Sarah planned and ran daily centers and developed unit plans to help the team meet its goal. I do not believe
that the students would have been as successful as they were without Sarahs teaching.
Sarah is very professional. She was always on time and ready to teach. She is very open, receptive and responsive to
constructive feedback. One of her most wonderful attributes is that she never waits to be asked to perform a task. If she
sees that something needs to be done, she does it and often anticipates well ahead of time what might need to be
accomplished.
Additional strengths of Sarahs are her organization and attention to details. She always had every lesson well planned
and organized. Her lessons flow smoothly because of these strengths and her positive attitude. She assesses students
using technology, graphs and charts and took it upon herself to plan an entire unit in math focusing on the tens place, teen
numbers, and their value. Students were assessed and learned more than was expected. This took hours of planning and
organizing to create the lessons and activities that the students enjoyed. I was very proud of Sarah for going above and
beyond what was expected and accomplishing it flawlessly.
Sarah is a team player and is someone I happily welcome to the profession of teaching. I personally would love to have
her as a colleague and a member of our kindergarten team. I have worked with many teaching candidates throughout my
nearly 17 years in teaching and Sarah is one of the most passionate, ambitious, and positive teaching candidates that I
have mentored. It is with sincere pleasure that I recommend Sarah for a job in your district.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Repp; Kindergarten Teacher
