Why are you here?

This corporate training webinar course will be a certification distance education course for the development of pictorial and screencast video production. The
goal is to educate participants in the effective use of pictorial and screencast presentations in learning that will add depth to course materials.
According to (Lambert, Kalyuga, & Capan, 2009):
The course is aimed at examining the uses, benefits, challenges, trends,
impact and issues related to using the Internet in the classroom, exploring the
latest Internet-based applications and improving students skills in using them
for instructional purposes and designing classroom activities that make use of
these applications. Since Web 2.0 technologies are revolutionizing the way we
use the Internet, the issues and trends (e.g. creativity, information sharing,
ethics, globalization, and collaboration) associated with these technologies
serve as the guiding framework for course topics, p. 153.
The course work will be based on the Theory of Independent Study by Charles Wedemeyer (Simonson, Smaldino, Albright, & Zvacek, 2014), p.43.The
substance of his study is that distance education was the independence of the student. He believed utilizing modern technologies in ways that emphasize
application that enabled you to learn whether or not there are teachers at the same place at the same time.

Needed Technology Software: Introduction to the Course

This orientation module is based on Michael Moores Theory of Transactional Distance. Moore states that the theory of
transactional distance is a typology of all educational programs having this distinguishing characteristic of separation of teacher
and learner (Simonson, Smaldino, Albright, & Zvacek, 2014), p.44.
The orientation will introduce software you will need to complete a variety of visual techniques you will learn, to also
understand the work involved in producing video materials and to critically assess the power and limits of each.
You will concentrate on areas where visuals are crucial for meaning. There are additional software installations that you
may not currently have available, all are needed in this course to assist participants.
These software applications are made available in the orientation modules and are needed to complete this certification
program. I have included information on how to acquire each of the programs used in the webinar certification, supplied
installation links, help links, and video introductions for your assistance.
Schoology
Schoology is an online learning management system that will house all your course materials, classroom management, and social networking
platform. Schoology improves learning through better communication, collaboration, and increases access to curriculum and supplemental content.

PBWORKS
Is a wiki; a collaborative website and authoring tool that allows users to easily add, remove and edit content for your group project. You will use
PBWORKS as your project development storage area. As a group you may decide the storage area layout and how you will communicate with each
other during the course. (Only one member per group to create an account).
GoToMeeting
Webinar Access for an Orientation presentation which will introduce the Learning Management System (Schoology), the syllabus, and the objectives
for the course and project outcomes.
Jing
Used for pictorial editting and screencasting, used as a tool for the production of your project, and is made available to assist you in completing your
course objectives and project outcomes.

Adobe Reader XI
Reliably viewing, printing, and annotating PDF documents that are made available in the course resource materials. Tobeusedwhendownloading

Uses for Jing Software in your project.

If you want to use Jing for video capture, you simply take your mouse, click and drag the area of the screen you want to capture and click. Then select to Capture
Video. You can either record with narration or not thats up to you! Once youre done recording, it will automatically upload your video to Screencast where you can
store up to 2 GB of storage, and access direct links and embedding code for your videos.
If you want to use Jing for image capture, you simply take your mouse, click and drag the area of the screen you want to capture and click. Now, instead of click
Capture Video, youll click Capture Image. Jing allows you to add text, arrows, boxes, and even highlighting areas to your image. You can save it, copy it to the
clipboard, or send it to screencast!
