Citizenship
For this topic, what I know about citizenship? For me, citizenship is like
something that was given by the government to show our nationality. It is basically like a
status for us and we can find our nationality in passport or ID card. Sometimes, people
need to choose between 2 countries because they have two citizenships. For example, if
the parent were came from different country or they born in other country. The
government always has the laws on citizenship, so people wont pass through some
country easily because if this is not happen, people can pass through other country and
that would be dangerous for the country that they through because that person didnt have
citizenship. In this essay, I want to talk about the advantage and disadvantage of having
Indonesian citizenship, release Indonesian citizenship and one real case study about it.
The advantage of having Indonesian citizenship is that people from outside of the
country can live free in Indonesia, without problem because they dont need to get
permission license from the immigration office anymore. They also can get free
healthcare or education if they become Indonesian citizens. I think that there is
disadvantage of having Indonesian citizenship, especially if you are living in other
country because for Indonesian people is quite hard if they live outside from Indonesia
because Indonesia still not proven by the world that the education in Indonesia was as

good as the other country, like United States. Some of the product that were made in
Indonesia werent not as famous as other country, like United States or countries in
Europe because it is not appreciate in Indonesia, which also made some of the product
were taken by other country. Some of the product that were made in Indonesia costs so
cheap in Indonesia, but in other country, it costs more expensive, even the price doesnt
make sense for Indonesian people. For example, the fuel in Indonesia is cost cheaper than
in Turkey or South Korea that need to import the fuel from other country. If you become
an Indonesian citizenship, you will have the right to choose the leader of the country
because you already approve by the law. According to UUD 1945 article 26 tells about
Indonesian citizens are people that are pure Indonesia citizen and foreigners that already
passed the law as citizens, which means that the foreigners can be part of Indonesia and
participate in many events. I dont think that there is disadvantage of letting go the
Indonesian citizenship because basically every country have their own law and people
have the rights to choose their own country. The advantage of letting go the Indonesian
citizenship is that they could get job easily in country that they lives because every
country sometimes prioritize their citizens to get the job. For example, Indonesian people
will be prioritizing by the government to get job in Indonesia than the foreigners,
especially the job vacancy in Indonesia is pretty low now.
For the real case study, I actually know someone that have double
citizenship, but he still 15 years old, so he still can have both of the citizenship and no
need to choose until he be 18 years old. For the real case study, I will chose a footballer
named Christian Gonzales. He was a Uruguayan people, but he decides to become
Indonesian citizenship because he works as a footballer in Indonesia. To be Indonesian

citizenship, there are rules that need to be followed. There are two types of rules,
neutralization in general and special neutralization. Gonzales actually followed all types
of neutralization because he followed the rules in general and he also got special
neutralization because he shows service to Indonesia football team. The process is long.
The Application is filed in the country of origin in writing to the president through the
secretary. The request charged according to government regulations. The President
may deny or grant the request. If granted, officials call the applicant to say oath / pledge.
If the president absent without reason, the Presidential Decree will be canceled. They will
send to immigration office maximum 14 days after oath. (Prastiwi)
The government cant do anything to reduce problem because He already done so
much in Indonesian football team, so He deserved to get Indonesian citizenship. To make
Indonesia football team become better, the government need to limited the slot of
neutralize player on the team, so Indonesian footballer could evolve their potential than
the neutralize player because the main reason they become an Indonesian people because
they didnt have chance at their country national football team.
