Students are already capable with the ipads provided
by the school and the corresponding apps and
programs that will be used in this lesson.
This lesson is the second in a series of 4 that tracks
the formation of Australia as a nation, and how various
elements of Australian society have changed.

As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:

Understand that the currency of Australia has changed overtime and the dates and chronological sequence
of this change.

Describe Australian currency at each time point

Describe Australian currency in the present. This includes being able to identify people on our currency and
any security marks that make our currency unique.
Teachers Prior Preparation/Organization:

Provision for students at educational risk:

Ensure that all technology is functional and has been set up


and prepared to run prior to the commencement of class.
ICT organized and ready to run: QR codes, Google slides,
and google forms. Creat student satisfaction survey using
Straw Poll.

Teacher will move around the class to help any


students that may be struggling with the work at
technical or cognitive level.

Motivation and Introduction:


1. Teacher introduces the topic and asks the students what they
know about the Australian currency.

2. Play a quick clip that shows how the Australian Currency


changed over time in response to society and world changes
to the form that students can recognise today.
3. For todays lesson students will focus on a timeline of currency
within Australian and how it has changed. By the end of this
lesson students should be able to give a quick potted history of
Australias currency also where we are headed. This will be
assessed with a quick quiz of the content.
Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key
Questions):

1. Students will be asked to form a small group and each group


will be allocated an ipad. QR codes have been arranged
around the room in Chronological order. Information within the
QR codes link to information regarding Australias currency at
that particular time.

2. Each group will pick a point in time and gather information


which the group will record on Google slides.

3. The google slides completed by the groups will be displayed


on the IWB. Each group will be asked to further explain what
information they discovered at their time point to the class.

link to the class Google slide.

4. Students use the QR code provided to access the quiz.
