This assessment is an original document by Lauren Caswell, M.Ed. It measures how much a student likes to read, what subjects the student is interested in reading about, and what types of media the student most enjoys. This assessment is designed for individual students who are in 1st or 2nd grade. The student may need help knowing the difference between fiction and non-fiction. The survey can take up to an estimated 10 minutes to complete, including the drawing portion. This can be considered both a formative and summative assessment in that you can give it to the student beforehand to measure the areas aforementioned, as well as afterwards to compare if the students interests has changed, expanded, or lessened.
