Character Name: Jojo Age: 18 Years Old Gender: Male Features: Black hair, brown eyes, 5ft7 Representation: Kelechi is an individual who is confident and easy-going. He is a bright and fairly educated individual. His personality is perfect for the character of Jojo within my production. The characters typical representation consists that of a black teenage male who uses slang words and dresses in vibrant, noticeable clothing, usually black. This was perfect for my production, as it would allow the actor to deliver the role of the prime protagonist on set without forcing the idea. This would mean a more realistic vibe was given to the film. Throughout the film, I aim to illustrate a clear representation of Kelechis identity through the use of different microelements. For example, spoken dialogue will be a prime factor of my representation as it informs the audience about the current stage of the production and what is going on. When conversing with his friends, terms such as g and fam will make the relationship between the three friends clearer. Also, this type of language is hugely common in the generation of todays teenagers. Kelechi will be purposely represented stereotypically. For example, his costume consists of a hoodie with dark jeans and black shoes. The use of a hoodie especially, is a natural stereotype for teenage black characters to wear. It is socially looked at as negative and associated with hoodlums. Kelechi will be positioned with his two friends for the majority of the production. Therefore, it is important to capture the right shots and use the correct angles in order to emphasise the characters actions and emotions. For example, I will use a medium/close up shot when he is speaking, to keep the focus on the character. Film Influences: Whilst researching different films focusing on male representation, I came across Topboy. This is because, whilst analysing the film, I realised that they use a stereotypical representation of men, which consists of them acting and looking like hoodrats. This relates to my representation as he follows the same general codes and conventions of other action genre shows and films.

Character Influences: I decided to create my characters
representation, focusing in relation to Topboys male protagonist Ashley Walters. He is of the same ethnicity as Kelechi, as well as being in the same setting, meaning they were fairly similar.
