Intention: Distribution of job roles in teams for upcoming tournament

Pre-lesson organisation: All students given links to apps that must be downloaded before coming to class (all free apps). Students told they are allowed to check out the apps and have a play with them before coming to class so they have a
general understanding of some of the apps before this class.
-Students have been sorted into fair teams for this tournament and a list of who is in what team is to be written on the board.

Beginning class organization:


Students arrive and check to see what team they are in.
Teams will move desks into group formation and sit down discussing a team name.

- Sports Medic-Good group discussion.


-Students begin by searching for the best
app that a sports medic should use if they
were going to keep their athletes from
injury.
- After about 4/5min they must select 2 or 3
people who will take turns being the sports
medic each week, choosing an app to use
as a way of warming up the team before
each of the tournament lessons begin.

-General control of noise level


-Fair delegation of roles.
-Ensure everyone is staying on task.
-Correct use of the I-pads.
-Whole group involvement.

-Make sure groups get up with the rest


of the class.

- Before moving onto the next role the


sports medic from each team for the first
week will get up and explain why they have
chosen the app they have for the first week
in a quick 2 min talk.

Time

- Students now discuss how they would


advertise for the upcoming tournament.

-Whole class input.

-Keep class order.

-Suggestions will be put forward as a


whole class brainstorm on the board

-Students taking turns and listening to


each other.

- through discussion be eliminated one by


one until there is one app left which
teacher and students agree will be the
easiest and safest for them to use.

-Students coming up with legitimate


reasons for and against a network.

-Already have an app in mind as to


what is the best and safest app for
these students to use and eventually
guide them to this app. (Make sure
they dont pick up that it is the one that
you want to use as it is their decision).

-In their teams for homework the social


media team (of 2 or 3) will create an
Instagram account where they can upload
pictures from the tournament, reminders
on game day to bring uniform and water or
even photos to pump up their team ready
for each lesson.

-Correct use of the apps.


-Showing fair, polite social media
behaviour with no put downs or bullying
toward other teams

-Oversee that only members of the


class are following these pages. And
vise verse.
-No bullying is taking place over this
network toward any members of any
teams

The final 2 or 3 members of the team are allocated the job of coach.

-The last few who are the coach will be
asked if they know or have used any good
apps that can be used for this role as team
coach.
-A small list will be put on the board of
these apps suggested then students will
have 5 mins in their teams to find some
good coaching apps that they think they
might use.

-Whole class still interested including


those who already have been given
jobs.
-Students arent trying to get away with
having no jobs. (All students leave with
a job).
-Correct use of I-pads.

-Making sure time is used wisely and


not wasted in this whole lesson.
-Keep students on task and focused
right till the end of the class.
-Ensure all students have been
involved in some way during this
lesson.

-4/5mins students are able to do a practise


run of what they would do when using this
app, giving them the idea whether or not
this could be an app they use.

Each team will quickly show teacher 1 app they have chosen that could be used the following week and give a reason
why they think this is a good app.
Groups dismissed after this has been done.
