Hayley Zabolotniuks Philosophy of Catholic Education

The Catholic faith is viewed as a key component of everyday life within the Greater
St. Albert Catholic School Division. I personally share this belief and am committed to
integrating beliefs and values of the Catholic faith in all aspects of student learning.
I believe that each student is unique and worthwhile and deserves to be treated with
dignity and respect. God is love; it is the responsibility of teachers to teach and to
demonstrate to students how to respect and care for one another. I will strive to promote
and demonstrate the dignity and sacredness of all students, their families, and members of
the school community through positive interpersonal interactions.
I believe that teaching the Catholic faith should focus on formation of the whole
person encompassing intellectual, physical, emotional, moral, and spiritual dimensions. It
is not limited to religious education classes; it must be integrated in all aspects of the
curriculum. Therefore, students will develop the knowledge, skills, and values essential for
Catholic living through all aspects of their educational experience.
I value the Ten Commandments and I strive to demonstrate these values in the
classroom. These values will create a caring and safe environment within the classroom and
throughout the entire school to enhance student learning and growth. I believe that
providing the opportunity for students to reflect on their beliefs will help them recognize
and grow in their faith. As students mature in their faith, I want them to become lifelong
learners who see the value of the Holy Spirit working in their lives.
The uniqueness of Catholic education is that it is not only explicitly taught but also
demonstrated through daily living. I strive to promote the development of students who
comprehend and live their faith. I recognize that my example can have a significant impact
on students. I want students to develop a passion for Christ as they observe my Catholic
faith lived out. As a Catholic educator, I believe I have a responsibility to promote and
demonstrate social justice and a commitment to community service. I am committed to
modelling Christ-centered educational values both inside and outside the school.
Finally, I believe that through integration of the Catholic faith in the school
community, students will become responsible citizens living out their faith. Being a
Catholic educator allows me to witness Gods creation learn and grow everyday. It is a
privilege and a responsibility to be a Catholic educator.
