The undersigned Magistrate having heretofore found that probable cause exists for the
issuance of this Warrant, YOU ARE HEREBY COMMANDED TO ARREST ASPEN
SHAQUILL DARREN WARREN, a black male, with a date of birth of 05/24/95, hereinafter
referred to as the defendant, and bring the said defendant before a Magistrate in and for Tarrant
County, Texas, instanter, then and there to answer the State of Texas for an offense against the
laws of said State, to-wit: Murder, a Felony, of which offense he, the said defendant, is accused
by the written Affidavit, under oath of Detective Steve Griesbach #1578, a police officer with the
‘Arlington, Texas, Police Department, filed before me anterior to the issuance of this Warrant.

ARREST WARRANT AFFIDAVIT.

COUNTY OF TARRANT. }
BEFORE ME, the undersigned authority on this day personally appeared Detective
Steve Griesbach #1578, a police officer with the Arlington, Texas, Police Department, who
after being duly sworn on oath deposes and says that HE HAS GOOD REASON TO
BELIEVE AND DOES BELIEVE THAT:
On or about 01/27/16, in the City of Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas, Aspen
Shaquill Darren Warren, hereinafter referred to as the suspect, did then and there commit
the offense of Murder, a Felony, in that he did then and there intentionally, with the intent to
cause serious bodily injury to the victim, Brittany Daniel, commit an act clearly dangerous to
hhuman life, namely, discharged a firearm at the victim and a bullet from the firearm struck
the victim which thereby caused the death of Brittany Daniel,
MY BELIEF AS AFORESAID IS BASED UPON THE FOLLOWING FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES
On or about 01/27/16, Officer Kinkade #2636 was dispatched to 400 East Interstate
30 Freeway, in Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas. Officer Kinkade was informed by a
witness, later identified as Jasmine Thomas, that she was riding in a vehicle with the victim
and an unknown suspect in another vehicle fired shots at them as they were driving down the
freeway, The witness stated that when the unknown suspect fired shots at their vehicle the
victim, who was driving the vehicle, was struck by one of those bullets and stated “I’ve been
shot, call 911.” The victim was transported to Arlington Memorial Hospital (AMH) were she
was pronounced deceased at approximately 19:35 hours by an emergency room doctor at
AMH. Said offense was reported to the Arlington Police Department as offense #16-4797.
On 01/27/16, I, Detective Steve Griesbach #1578, received a phone call from
Homicide Sgt. Fryer #1456, Sgt. Fryer advised me that Arlington police officers were
currently investigating a shooting on the north side of town. Sgt. Fryer stated the shooting
occurred on Interstate 30 (eastbound) near Cooper Street and the victim was transported to
Arlington Memorial Hospital (AMH) were she was pronounced deceased. I drove to the main
police station where I met Sgt. Fryer and we drove out to the offense location on Interstate
30, The address of the shooting was reported as 400 E. Interstate 30 (eastbound), Arlington,
‘Tarrant County, Texas. | arrived on scene and spoke with the witness, Jasmine Thomas, who
was riding in the vehicle with the victim at the time of the shooting.
| spoke with Jasmine Thomas and she stated the victim was giving her a ride home in
her vehicle which was a 2008 silver Honda Accord 4 door vehicle from their place of
employment when there was a “road rage” incident that occurred on I-30 in Arlington.
Jasmine Thomas stated she saw the suspect vehicle approach them from behind and it was
weaving in and out of traffic. Jasmine Thomas stated there was an incident between their
vehicle and the suspect vehicle while they were driving down the freeway. Jasmine Thomas U4
stated the suspect vehicle was driving on the left or driver's side of their vehicle. Jasmine ?

Thomas said the back passenger window of the suspect vehicle was rolled down and “words”
‘were yelled at them from the individual sitting in the rear back seat on the passenger side of
the suspect vehicle. Jasmine Thomas described the vehicle as a dark colored 4-door vehicle.
Jasmine Thomas stated that the victim had her driver’s side window rolled partly down and.
she could hear the individual yelling “words” fiom the suspect vehicle. Jasmine Thomas said
she turned around toward the front of their vehicle as they continued to drive down I-30 when
she heard what sounded like 2 gunshots. Jasmine Thomas stated the victim, who was driving,
the vehicle, yelled that she had been shot and asked her to call 911. Jasmine Thomas stated
the victim was able to pull their vehicle off the freeway onto the shoulder and stop. Jasmine
‘Thomas said she called 911 and reported the shooting.
‘On 01/29/16, I received a tip on this case. I spoke with the tipster and that individual
informed me they had information reference the homicide that occurred on I-30. The tipster
stated they knew who some of the individuals were that were in the suspect vehicle at the
time of the shooting on the freeway. The tipster provided me with the information that they
knew which included the names of some of the individuals that were in the suspect vehicle at
the time of the shooting
On 01/30/16, I located an individual that according to the tipster was in the vehicle at
the time of the offense. During the course of speaking with Witness #1 they admitted to being
in the suspect vehicle at the time of the shooting. Witness #1 stated they were driving on I-30
when there was a “road rage” incident between the vehicles they were riding in and the
im’s vehicle. Witness #1 described the “road rage” incident and how the two vehicles
were driving on 1-30, Witness #1 stated the other vehicle involved appeared to be a silver 4
door vehicle and there were 2 black females inside that vehicle. Witness #1 stated the driver,
who they identified by name as Aspen, of the suspect vehicle was the individual that did the
shooting. Witness #1 stated the driver of the vehicle they were riding in fired 2 shots at the
victim's vehicle as they were driving down I-30 near Cooper Street.
Witness #1 was shown a photo lineup by Detective Barakat #2784. Detective Barakat
was used as a blind administrator because he was not involved in this case and did not know
who the possible suspect was. Detective Barakat showed Witness #1 a sequential photo
lineup of six like but different individuals, including the photograph of the suspect, Aspen
Warten. Witness #1 pointed to the photograph in the number four 4 position as the individual
who was driving the suspect vehicle and fired 2 shots at the vietim’s vehicle on 01/27/16.
‘The photograph in the number four (4) position is the photograph of the suspect, Aspen.

‘On 02/01/16, I spoke with another individual that stated they were in the suspect
vehicle at the time of the offense. Witness #2 stated they were in the suspect vehicle as they
were driving down 1-30 in Arlington on 01/27/16. Witness #2 stated there was a “road rage”
incident involving another vehicle as they were driving down the freeway. Witness #2
described the “road rage” incident that was witnessed and stated the other vehicle involved
appeared to be a silver 4 door vehicle. Witness #2 stated the driver of the vehicle that they
were in, and they identified as Aspen Warren, was overheard asking for his gun, Witness #2
stated Aspen Warren grabbed his gun and then fired 2 shots at the victims vehicle as they
were driving along side of it, Witness #2 stated they were driving on the left side (driver's
side) of the victim’s vehicle {fewanna (e+ [e-Ol4
‘On 02/02/16, I spoke with a third individual that was in the suspect vehicle at the
time of the offense. Witness #3 stated they were riding in the suspect vehicle and confirmed
all the names of the individuals that were inside the suspect vehicle at the time of the
shooting, Witness #3 stated they were driving on I-30 (eastbound) coming from Fort Worth
when there was a “road rage” incident involving the vehicle they were riding in and another
vehicle. Witness #3 stated there were two black females in the other vehicle and “words”
were exchanged between the two vehicles. Witness #3 identified the driver of the suspect
vehicle that they were riding in as Aspen Warren and stated Aspen Warren rolled down the
front passenger window of their vehicle from his side of the vehicle. Witness #3 stated Aspen
‘Warren then told the front passenger to lean back and he fired 2 shots at the victim’s vehicle
while they were driving alongside the victim's vehicle. Witness #3 stated they were driving
alongside the driver's side of the victim’s vehicle at the time Aspen Warren fired the shots.
All three witnesses that I interviewed gave a detailed account of what they witnessed
in reference this investigation. All three witnesses were consistent that the driver of the
suspect vehicle, which they all identified as Aspen Warren, was the individual responsible for
firing shots at the victim’s vehicle while they were driving down I-30 in Arlington on
01/27/16.
WHEREFORE, I request that an arrest warrant be issued for the defendant hereinafter
designated according to the laws of this State.
