Welcome to your English course. I will tell you now that you WILL work in my class. This is
not a fly-through-the-lessons kind of class. It will require effort and hard work. If you are
serious about graduating, then you know that effort and hard work is part of being here.

Citation & Plagiarism


A. Citation: Everything that you write in your paper that came
from somewhere else needs to be documented and cited as a source of
information.
B. Plagiarism: Taking information from elsewhere and passing it
off as your own. Doing so is considered cheating and will be
reprimanded accordingly.
C. Honor Code: Sign and submit along with every major
assignment

English Writing Assignments
I.

Weekly Writing
A. Timed 5-10 minute bursts of prompted writing at center tables
B. Minimum 1 paragraph
C. 30 total for the course
D. Compile looseleaf or in a notebook separate from your notes
E. Will be checked weekly as writing grades

II.

Short Writing Assignments


A. Untimed prompted/freewrite assignments about texts youve
read
B. Minimum 2 paragraphs
C. 6 per Part (2 per Unit; 24 total for the whole course)
D. Must use at least 2 Vocabulary Bank words in assignment
1. Definition and part of speech must be included at
the bottom of the assignment
E. Will be checked regularly as quiz grades

MANDATORY: Outline and Rough Draft for each essay.
An essay with an Outline and Rough Draft (that I have seen and discussed
with you) must be turned in halfway through the course. Your parts will
remain unlocked until I receive them.
